Captain Robert Shannon Hild

of Conway, AR

July 20, 1969 - July 7, 2024

Captain Robert Shannon Hild, 54, of Conway, Arkansas passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 7, 2024. Robert was born on July 20, 1969 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Robert E. Hild and Janelle Merritt Hild.

Robert attended high school at Sylvan Hills High School in Little Rock and then college at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway. He was also a longtime member of Faith Assembly of God in Conway.

Robert was a Captain with the Little Rock Fire Department. He faithfully served the City of Little Rock and its citizens for 25 years. Robert worked his way up, earning the rank of Captain and was assigned to Station #9 on Truck 9. Captain Robert Hild was honored and proud to be a long-time member of the Little Rock Fire Department as his work ethic and love for his career proved itself. He leaves behind many memories and life-long friendships among the brotherhood of firefighters in which he worked alongside of.

Robert was considered a very loving and kind person who enjoyed life and lived it to its fullest. He had many hobbies. He had a love for the outdoors and he enjoyed camping and riding his bicycle. Robert also had a love for music and enjoyed playing the guitar as he gathered with family and friends.

Most of all, Robert's greatest passion was his family and spending time with them. He was a proud husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. More than anything Robert loved watching his son, R.J. compete in competitive wrestling matches. Robert was R.J.'s biggest fan and he had a real passion for attending his wrestling matches and events.

Robert is preceded in death by his father, Robert E. Hild, and one sister, Sheila Renee' Wilson.

He is survived by his wife, Amanda Glover Hild of Conway; his son, R.J. Hild of Conway; one stepson, Charlie Warren of Conway; one daughter, Brianna Hild and her fiancé, Peyton Fletcher of Conway; two stepdaughters, Macey Warren and her fiancé, Korlin McKinney of Conway and Madison Campbell and husband, Chas of Blytheville, Arkansas; his mother, Janelle Merritt Hild of Greenbrier; one sister, Jolynn Hild and 5 grandchildren, all of who called him Pop; in which he loved being called.

Robert is also survived by a host of very good friends and fellow fire fighters.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, July 12, 2024 at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway, Arkansas, with Brother Bryan Nicolle officiating. A visitation will be held from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at the funeral home. Burial will follow the funeral service at Thorn Cemetery in Greenbrier, Arkansas.

I am so sorry for your loss. Robert was one of the heroes who saved our son’s life from a housefire. His heroic acts will always be remembered by our family. I was able to meet him again years later. This gentle giant of a man remembered the day our son’s life was saved and recalled details of which we were not even aware. We will be and are forever grateful to Robert and for his life of service.

Many of us up in Walton Heights knew Robb from his time at Station 16 and for his reliable care of our sprinklers. His kindness, integrity and expertise were apparent to anyone who met him. I always enjoyed our visits and felt great comfort just having his phone number. I knew that if I ever needed a hero, I could call Robb. He was blessed to have such a great family and rich work network, who he dearly loved. My thoughts are with you all at this difficult time. Our lives are richer for having known Robb and he will be missed.

Rob has been a great neighbor for many years. Not only was he a firefighter on the job, but on our street. He would always spring into action. If there was an issue or an emergency on this street he would be one of the first to step up, and do “his job”. He would always take control, and remained calm. I believe L.R. Fire dept will have a void without him, and so will our street..
RIP

Return to the Elysian field of your childhood, Robbie, running and jumping and playing. Give Sheila a big kiss from all of us, and tell your dad to break out the steel guitar, because it's time for some sliding and picking. Thank you for gracing us with your presence, if only for a while.
