of Marshall, AR

June 23, 1946 - June 30, 2024

Bonnie Lewis, age 78, of Marshall, Arkansas passed from this earthly life on June 29, 2024 at her home. She was born in Zack, Arkansas on June 23, 1946 to Seth Houghton and Daisy Wood Houghton.

As a young girl and teen, Bonnie enjoyed spending time with her friends in the Zack community. Bonnie graduated from Marshall High School in 1964. She worked at the Flintrock Shirt Factory as a side-seamer. Bonnie married Sergal Lewis on March 1, 1968. Bonnie was a homemaker, a devoted wife, and a loving mother. She was of the Pentecostal faith. She loved her faith, husband, children, and her family. She tried to live her life exemplifying her love for her faith and family. She devoutly read her favorite book, the Bible; and prayed for her family, friends, and those that she met along life's journey. Bonnie cherished time spent with family and friends, including the friendships she established through the extensive travels due to Sergal's work in construction.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; infant sister, Belinda Sue; brother, Bill; fathers-in-law, Rochester Lewis and Rufus Gray; mothers-in-law, Bernice Brooks-Lewis-Gray; brothers-in-law, John Brodie and Jimmie Lewis; and sisters-in-law, Sue Houghton and Sharon Lewis.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Sergal; and daughters, Lucinda and Becky.
Further she is survived by her devoted sister, Betty Brodie of Kansas City, Missouri; and brothers, Bob Houghton (Elsa) of Dardanelle, Arkansas, Garry Houghton (Ellisa) of Dover, Arkansas; and Tommy Houghton (Lori) of Hector, Arkansas. Extended family includes Trenton Waller and Amaya Waller that lovingly called her ''Mamaw''; cousin, Jac Parris of Hot Springs, Arkansas; brothers-in-law, Willis Lewis (Phyllis) and Noel Lewis of Leslie, Arkansas; sisters-in-law, Nadean Houghton of Harrison, Arkansas, Karen Lewis and Janice Lewis of Leslie, Arkansas, and Wanda Houghton of Marquette, Michigan; nieces and nephews that called her ''Aunt Bonnie''; and great nieces and great nephews.

Funeral services for Bonnie will be 2:00 PM Friday, July 5th, 2024 at Roller-Coffman Chapel in Marshall, Arkansas with Rev. James Brinsfield officiating. Visitation will be 1:00 till 2:00 PM preceding the service. Burial will be in Canaan Cemetery. Nephews will serve as bearers.

Bonnie will be remembered for her faithfulness, praying for others, and her generous spirit. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. The family would like to sincerely thank the Elite Hospice staff for their professional dedication and support.

My sympathy to Sergil and all the family in the loss of your loved one Bonnie. I have special memories of Bonnie when she was my neighbor in town at Marshall. I was just a little girl and she was a few years older. We played dolls and had the most fun that summer. We went to school together at Marshall, but she was a few grades ahead of me. We also met up at decoration time at Canaan Cemetery and had good visits together. I will miss her. Prayers for your comfort in the days ahead. Marinda and Rick Holliman

I am so very sorry to read this…I didn’t know or I would have been there for Bonnie’s funeral…I am so sorry…this just makes me so sad. Bonnie and her whole family were very special to me. We used to sing together with her dad at church. I have the best memories of Bonnie…she was always, without fail, kind and sweet to everyone. And she raised her daughters to be just like her…always putting others first. I believe that Bonnie truly lived how a Christian should live and served as an example of how we all should live our lives. My deepest condolences to Bonnie’s family…and my apologies for not being there.
