James Richard ''Dicky'' Norwood
James Richard ''Dicky'' Norwood, surrounded by his loving family, departed this world on June 7th, taking his big heart and laughter to the eternal happy hunting grounds. Dicky was born on October 22nd, 1949, in Little Rock Arkansas, to Albert Norwood and ImoJean (Harry) Haile, who proceed him in death.
Dicky had a typical 1950s-60s childhood growing up in Little Rock. At the age of 19, in 1969 he enlisted in the army and served one tour of duty in Vietnam with the 5th Division, 7thEngineering Regiment. During that tour he was exposed to Agent Orange, which would cause him health issues later in life and eventually result in him becoming a 100[[][%]] disabled veteran. Dicky continued his service for eight years. His duties ranging from heavy equipment operation to training the next generation of soldiers as a drill instructor. After the military, Dicky became a professional glazier, working on such projects as the enormous glass viewing walls of Oaklawn Horse Racing Track in Hot Springs. He worked in that industry until he retired in 2011, as the vice president of American Wholesale Glass.
Like many residents here in the Natural State, Dicky had a passion for all things outdoors. He loved to take his family camping in beautiful scenic places like Albert Pike. For many deer seasons, he loaded up and went to the Callahan deer camp in Dallas County. These annual pilgrimages resulted in too many hilariously great stories to recount. Another area dear to Dicky's heart was Lake Ouachita. He followed his dream and purchased a home in Buckville, on the North side of the lake and the good times kept rolling. His place was the venue for everything from his daughter's wedding to deer camp. Countless hours were spent with friends and family enjoying each other's company, great food, good music, the lake, hunting, fishing, partying, playing horseshoes and a whole lot more. These were the best of times for all involved and we will remember those days with Dicky fondly, especially when we need to smile.
Dicky is survived by his loving family including wife Kathy in Buckville, Ar; his loving daughter Tasha (Chris) Carneal and two granddaughters Evelyn and Emily Carneal, in Haskell, Ar; as well as his stepson, Brad Norwood; two grandsons Jesse (Sinti) and Dalton Norwood, in Buckville Ar. ; Sisters Connie Rhoads (Bernard), Lynn Fullerton (Kenny), Janet Carlton (Rodney) ; Brother Wayne Norwood (Karen); Sister in law Tina Benton (Bob), Brother in law Ricky Southworth (Willette) and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to family, Dicky had an impact on many during his life and leaves behind a large group of lifelong friends, affectionately known as ''The Out-laws''.

Dicky was one of a kind! I’ll never forget him singing “Time Marches On”. He always loved that song. I have so many wonderful memories at Buckville and he was a part of so many of them. Praying for your family. He will be missed. Rest in Peace and Love Dicky.
