George Edward ''Mo'' Best, 68, passed away at his home on June 10, 2024. George was born on April 14, 1956 and was a lifelong resident of Cash, Arkansas, where he cultivated a deep love for the land and an enduring legacy as a dedicated farmer.
Raised in a large, close-knit farming family, George was one of twelve children, the beloved son of the late John and Mildred Best. He grew up alongside seven brothers and four sisters, sharing the values of hard work, perseverance and a profound connection to nature. From an early age, George embraced the rhythms of farm life, a passion that would define his life's work and identity.
George's love for the outdoors extended beyond the fields; he was an avid hunter and fisherman. Many of his happiest moments were spend in the tranquility of the woods or by the water, where he found solace and joy in the pleasures of nature. His stories of hunting trips and fishing adventures are cherished memories for his family and friends.
A pillar of his community, George was a devoted member of the Swifton United Methodist Church, where his faith and fellowship were constants throughout his life. His commitment to his church and his community was evident in his everyday actions and the kindness he extended to all who knew him.
George is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Pennye Best; his siblings, Norma Burden, Carolyn (Tommy) Bryant, John W. (Kay) Best, Donald R. (Shirlon) Best, Linda Fiala, Charles R. (Tami) Best, Dennis Best, James (Penny) Best and David (Teresa) Best and many nieces, nephews and extended family members who will miss his warm smile, generous spirit and jovial laughter.
George was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Danny Best; a sister, Luna Mae Carroll and his sisters-in-law, Patty Lady and Paula Lee.
A funeral service to celebrate George's life will be held at Roller Farmers Union Funeral Home on Friday, June 14, 2024 at 11am with Pastor Jerrod Baccus officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation at Roller Farmers Union Funeral Home before the service from 10-11am.
