Garland Franklin Jr., of Quitman, Arkansas passed from this Earth on Monday, June 3, 2024. Most people referred to him as Junior. Garland was a humble man who loved to joke with anyone he met. He grew up in Higden, Arkansas on a 40-Acre farm before Greers Ferry Lake existed. During the construction of the lake, his family moved to Quitman. After graduating from Quitman High School, he joined the Army National Guard. Later, he began to work at Virco furniture manufacturing plant in Conway where he spent 37 years making a living. He enjoyed listening to music, fishing and building wood crafts. In the 80's he dabbled with CB radios and played golf. Before retiring, he worked for a few years at Aromatique in Heber Springs.
Garland was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Angie.
Garland is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Sandra Franklin; son, Shannon Franklin; daughter, Rhonda Darce; step-daughter, Penny Bohannan; step-son, Gary Hodge; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Many family, friends, and loved ones will remember and miss him.
Services will take place at 11:00AM on Friday, June 7, 2024 at Higden McLehaney Cemetery in Higden, AR. Visitation will begin one hour prior at 10:00AM at the Chapel in the Cemetery.
