Uncle Bob, you told me not to call you that... just Bob. You were so good to me. Taking me on family camping trips, even girl scout camping trips. Drove me to school my last 2 years of high school, all while teaching me math and science on the way. You were so hurt when I didn't call you after moving out as a high school graduate. You weren't a perfect man or father, yet you always were able to forgive me my short comings. You became a surrogate father when my dad died. You vouched for me when I was getting ready to graduate college, and got me a job at the Little Rock Cancer Clinic, where you were a founding member. You didn't understand why Carroll Wayne had issues with you, but I did, as I had the same ones with my dad. We talked, Carroll & I, and you & I. You took great care of Bev in her last days, and they weren't easy. Yet you soldiered on. You helped me to better understand my relationship with my father, and for that I will always love and respect you.

A perfect man, no. A good man, most certainly.

Dear family,
We're not the first to mention what a gentle soul Bob was. He was a pleasure to be around.
We especially enjoyed our years of friendly companionship and delicious eating as fellow members of the Aux Arc Epicurians. We have not been able to meet and share our wonderful gourmet meals as Bob has become ill and unable to participate, but we will never forget the joy of his special successes with any dish he attempted. We especially enjoyed hearing of his experiences while cooking in France.
He will be missed!

Dr. Bob as we called him was not only a family friend but a part of our family! It was the last thing I said to him. Years ago he gave me a cookbook from our favorite Austin restaurant. He signed it... " "Susan... To a special friend with a very special family. Thanks for sharing- Enjoy Aug. 4th 2020 Bob"
A fellow animal lover! He will be greatly missed!!
