My condolences to the entire Adcock family. Courtney and Cody, you were the pride of your Dad’s life. I had not talked to him in quite a while, but, when I did he would always start off talking about you guys. Courtney, he said you were the most gorgeous girl in Arkansas and you would have to fight off the boys and that they should know that he was going to help, too!! Cody, he said you were going to be twice the athlete he was, and coming from your Dad, that was quite a compliment. He was very proud of you and you were his son! Belden hit the nail on the head when he mentioned the grief you are going thru now, but, remember the good and fun times you had with your Dad as time goes on. I get a smile just thinking about him. Whenever I would see him he’d have a big old grin on his face and say “Hey WC!!” and give me a big bear hug. That’s how I remember him.

You guys and Judy don’t know me, but, I’ve known your Dad since we were around 15. I was a couple of years older than him. We met back in the Minute Man days, when there was a Minute Man restaurant in the Colony West Shopping Center that had pool tables, foosball, as well as pinball. I’m guessing there were around 15-20 of us that hung out there all the time. Kids from Treasure Hills, Colony West, Sturbridge, PV and other areas hung out there. Once we could drive and got cars, we could really get in trouble!! Some of us actually did. I called your Dad “Adcock” and he called me “WC”. I get a smile just thinking about him. At some point Charlie had a Chevrolet with a 396 engine and it was really fast. Charlie liked to talk about it, too. I had a Challenger, which was fast, too, and he always said his was faster. One night we decided to find out. There was a section of Rebsamen Park Road where people would race their cars. We went down there and Charlie had Buzzy his car with him, not sure why, but, we lined up and took off. We passed the finish line and I started slowing down and moved into the right lane and the next think I know, Charlie and Buzzy were spinning around in a cloud of sand and dust on the side of the road. When they finally stop spinning I ran over to them, shaking like a leaf, and asked if they were OK. Charlie said, yeah, but, I was gaining on you, let’s go again!! I was still shaking and scared and said the NSFW version of heck no, are you crazy. But, that was Charlie. He was always competitive and hated to lose!! My racing days were over, can’t remember about his.

Charlie called our group the “Minute Man Mafia” and said he was gonna write a book about it someday. Hopefully, this will serve as a chapter for him.

I’m not sure how much space I can use, but, I have another story about your Dad and a bunch of his buddies. I met Tommy Goodwin at drivers ed class and we became best friends, Then, we met Charlie at the Minute Man. There were a bunch of others from the Minute Man including Shelton, Brown, Buzzy, the Horns and many more that became friends. I went off to UCA in Conway and I believe Charlie went to Tech. Belden, Clark and I were in the same fraternity at UCA. Then, Charlie shows up after transferring from Tech. He becomes fast friends with Belden and Clark, which leads to them being friends with Goodwin and some others. So, Charlie was the link connecting all those guys. He used to laugh saying “That’s the circle of life, brother, that’s the circle of life”!

RIP Adcock, the circle of life continues. See you down the road!

It's impossible to distill a person's life into a few paragraphs and is never adequate to describe what that person meant to their friends, family and loved ones. Charlie had a unique relationship with each of us and will be missed. See ya in the next world brother.

I am so sad to read the obituary for Charlie in today’s newspaper. We attended Arkansas Tech together and it was always a joy to visit with Charlie. He was a fellow always with a smile and a laugh. He was always a positive force of energy. He will be missed by many. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Charley will be missed by many! We have been friends since when we met at UCA. We always called each other Brother "A" and Brother "B". Another great friend is Budd Clark, we called him Brother "C". Brothers, ABC!! Lots of great memories with Charley, weekends at the lake, river and even a ball game or two. Courtney and Cody, he always told me about each of your life's accomplishments and was proud of both of you!! Once you are over the grief your experiencing, keep the happy and wonderful memories you shared with your father, and he will never be gone as long as we keep him in our memory and our hearts. RIP Brother "A" and I'll see you once again on the other side!

Such a legacy for Parkview High School class of 1974. He will be missed. I was so looking forward to seeing him at our 50th reunion this year. I guess the Lord needed him at another reunion. RIP and love Charlie.
