Linda Darnell Thomas, 87, of Paris, Arkansas, formally of The Villages, Florida, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2024 in Charleston, Arkansas.
Linda was born November 14, 1936 in Hampton, Virginia to her parents, William ''Dick'' Franklin Darnell and Lottie ''Lucille'' (Jester) Darnell. She worked as a library clerk for the Specification Library at Newport News Shipbuilding before she retired. Linda graduated from Hampton High School Class of 1955. She then attended Madison College (now James Madison University) studying Library Science. She and her husband, Walt moved to The Villages, Florida and lived there for twenty-three years before moving to Paris, Arkansas to live with their son, Keith and his family. Linda loved to read books and to work crossword puzzles.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Bill Darnell and his wife, Jean; Ronnie Darnell and his wife, Elizabeth and Richard Darnell.
Linda is survived her husband of sixty-five years, Walter Thomas of Paris, Arkansas; one son, Keith Thomas and wife, Debi of Subiaco, Arkansas; her sister-in-law, Charlotte Darnell of Newport News, Virginia; two granddaughters, Ellen Thomas and Mandy Midgett and husband, Matt; four great-grandchildren, McKenzie Eades, Payton Eades, Allie Midgett and Logan Eades; many other family members and friends.
Linda will have her cremains placed at the St. Benedict Catholic Cemetery columbarium at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2024 under the direction of Roller Funeral Home.
Sorry for your loss. Linda was a very sweet and caring person and her smile will be missed by all who knew her.
