of Shirley, AR
October 4, 1949 - May 23, 2024
Betty Lou Blackwood, 74, of Shirley, Arkansas sadly left her family on May 23, 2024. She was born to the late Luther and Lorene (Watts) Reeves in Kennett, Missouri. She is the beloved mother of Veronica and loving Nanny to all her grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Michael Reeves and Johnny Reeves.
A limb has fallen from the family tree. I keep hearing a voice that says, "Grieve not for me. Remember the best times, the laughter, the song. The good life I've lived while I was strong. Continue my heritage, I'm counting on you. Keep smiling and surely the sun will shine through. My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest. Remembering all, how I truly was blessed. Continue traditions, no matter how small. Go on with your life, don't worry about falls. I miss you all dearly, so keep up your chin. Until the day comes we're together again." - Unknown
Betty was truly a one-of-a-kind woman. She had a heart of gold and a way of showing everyone she encountered just how it felt to be welcomed, appreciated and loved unconditionally. If you couldn't find her out in the garden or flower beds, you would find her making up a batch of no-bake cookies for the grandkids. There's not much that I can say about "our nanny or momma" that you don't already know. If you knew her, you knew exactly where to find her and you knew exactly what she was doing. More than anything, she LOVED being with family smoking her "organics", if you know what I mean by that then I don't have to explain. And I think you all know.. living every moment of her life exactly the way she wanted. There's so many words and so many stories that we could tell...but she was easy to love and there wasn't a person she encountered that didn't feel all of her love. To close out the last bit of words we get to say about her, life will not be the same without her, but we know that heaven just gained the most beautiful angel of all…I miss you momma.
Left to cherish her memory are her only child, Veronica Reeves; grandchildren, Heidi Waller, Joe Bernard, Tiffany Gray and great grandchildren, Alexis Knollenberg, Raiden Waller, Greyson Waller and Soren Waller. She also leaves behind her siblings, Brenda Jackson, Larry Reeves and Christy Martin.
Graveside services are at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at Settlement Cemetery in Shirley, Arkansas. Pallbearers are Joe Bernard, Kyle Gray, B.A. Waller, Jamie Reeves, Danny Reeves and Daniel Knollenberg.
Due to Betty's unexpected passing the family has asked, in lieu of flowers, that memorial contributions are made to help with her final expenses. Fund- A- Family

I only met Ms Betty about 2 months ago when I took her daughter to see her mom. Veronica cleaned up around Ms Betty's rose bush so when she sit outside on her porch she could admire the rose bush planted years ago. She welcomed me into home like I was family. She helped raised her 3 grandchildren which she taught them to respect others ,show good manners and a good work ethic. Heaven has gained a awesome angel.
