of Conway, AR
September 14, 1939 - May 18, 2024
''Jan'' as she wished to be called was born as Janice Kaye Marcus in Christopher, Illinois on September 14, 1939.
She lived there and graduated from Christopher High School in 1959, then moved to St. Louis, Missouri. She met her husband there and married Glenn Irvin Hildebrand on September 26, 1959. During her younger years she learned to love dancing and became involved with ballroom dancing. Jan and her dancing partner, Jeff Butler became well known throughout southern Illinois, performing at many important functions and venues. In 1958 she was crowned ''Miss Christopher'' and participated in the Miss Illinois Pageant.
In 1960, Jan and her husband, Glenn moved to Bakersfield, California.
Her first child, Gregory Marcus Hildebrand was born in 1960. Jan and Glenn moved to San Francisco in 1966. As the family grew, with the birth of Gayle Ann and John Christopher, they moved to a new home, 2348 Shannon Drive in South San Francisco, California.
During the nearly 50 years in San Francisco, Jan found a rich assortment of activities and personal enterprises. She gave freely of herself as a community volunteer for many groups.

Glenn, we are very sorry for the loss of your lovely wife. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
Peace be with you, Jim and Pamela Osment.
So sorry for your loss. She was a bright smile on the corner of Reynolds & Altus here in the Village. My grandchildren always loved her air hugs & kisses as we walked by. She will be missed.
Jan was an incredibly loving mother and grandmother. It was a pleasure to have known her. My deepest sympathies to her family.
My Sincere Condolences to the Hilderbrand Family. As her categiver I truly enjoyed caring for sweet Mrs. Jan. I will always remember the beautiful days of us coloring, doing puzzles, scrolling around the neighborhood & sitting on the porch. She was truly a joy to work with. I Thank You Mr. Glen for always treating me like family. May she rest in peace. Forever love you both. Your Caregiver Ola McGee.
Though my time knowing Jan was short, I am sad to see her go. However I am happy that she is free and in the very best place imaginable. Jan always had a way of making both workers and residents of Ridgemere smile, with both her beautiful, infectious smile and her loving spirit. She will be missed as a wife, mother, sister, and friend. Condolences go out to the family for this tremendous loss, my thoughts and prayers are with you
With love,
Sunni (Resident Care Aide)

I will certainly miss seeing you sitting on your porch as I walk my dog. RIP my friend.
