He was preceded in death by his parents, John Cleveland McCarty and Joyce Armetta Pounders McCarty; paternal grandparents, John C. He is survived by a daughter, Jennifer Nicole Liles (Dan) of Virginia; a son, Jason Causey of Mississippi; grandson, Rich Liles of Virginia; sister, Nancy McCarty Andrecht (Roger) of Indiana and several nieces and nephews.

The family is especially grateful to the staff of the Naval Hospice in Biloxi, Mississippi for the excellent care and love they extend to their patients. He loved them and called them his extended family.

Patrick was born in North Little Rock and attended school in Sherwood and Sylvan Hills. He had his father sign for the Navy before finishing high school. While in the Navy, he acquired his G.E.D. in order to be promoted while in the military service. He didn't prepare for the test and still managed to get the highest score that they had ever had at that location. He submitted to enter submarine training and was approved. He spent his four years of service in the submarines, based mostly in Key West, Florida. After leaving the military service, he traveled across Canada and the U.S. working as a welder. He attended Oklahoma State University and graduated with honors with a teaching degree. He taught welding at Vatterott College in Missouri and then moved to his hometown of Biloxi, Mississippi.

The family requests no flowers, but suggests donations to the disabled vets or wounded warriors.

I was working hospice at the VA on his first day, we clicked right away and been friends all this time. I moved over next door to another unit and he would come over on his good days and give me a hug and some smarties candy. A few months back he said "Can I ask a favor" I said sure he ask that when the time came would I come and check in him in his room and of course I did do that. He will be missed and the birds and raccoons may not be so healthy now cause he took care of them also. The pleasure was all mine to get to know him and hear all his stories if teaching, working and military service. God gained another angel.

Mr.Mcarty was a great man that I’ve since coming to the hospice unit in Biloxi. I think he was here for 5 years. He will be sadly missed throughout our unit. I will miss going on Popeyes runs and he always wanted extra biscuits and gravy. We would talk every morning about submarine stories and the submarine movies he kept on commenting about. He go and order about 10-20 pounds of birdseeds for our local bird. I’m sorry for the gallows and may god be shining upon you during this time of sorrow
