I served in the Army.

William Joseph Cubr, Jr.I am a Veteran.

of Mountain Home, AR

June 18, 1923 - May 5, 2024

William ''Bill'' Joseph Cubr, Jr. was born June 18, 1923 to William Joseph Cubr, Sr. and Rose Jedlikca of Sucasunna, New Jersey. Bill was drafted into the Army when he was 19 years old. He trained with the tank destroyers, but because of his poor eyesight, was reassigned to work in the army hospital in Iceland for 2 years. To finish out his army contract, he worked in a hospital for blind soldiers. This instilled a strong sense of service in him that influenced the course of his life.

When Bill was in his forties, he became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints through where he met his wife, Barbara. They were married in the Idaho Falls Temple and enjoyed 55 years of marriage, during which they raised their two daughters, Rose Green and Bobbi Cubr. Bill moved to the Mountain Home area in 1979 where he enjoyed the beautiful scenery and continued his hobby of flower gardening. He loved animals and adopted several abandoned dogs through the years. He enjoyed swimming and creating cartoons for family and friends. He was an avid genealogist and traced his family back to 1632 in the Czech Republic.

Bill worked in banking and for Baxter House in Mountain Home and volunteered in Baxter Regional Hospital's reception area, finally retiring from this service at age 92. Up until he moved into assisted living, Bill stayed busy cutting up fallen limbs around his property and taking daily walks. He continued his daily walks and exercise program at Riverlodge Assisted Living until a week before his passing.

Bill had a strong commitment to his Savior Jesus Christ and was particularly attentive to people who were at the margins of society. He enjoyed talking to people and got to know many people wherever he went, even corresponding with people he met during his travels.

Bill looked forward to his adventures after this life in the spirit world where he anticipated reuniting with his mother and his many relatives who have passed on before. He particularly looked forward to meeting his ancestors for whom he had performed temple ordinances in hopes that they would accept Jesus as their Savior and said that in the afterlife he would be a very busy man.

Bill is survived by his wife, Barbara Cubr; his oldest daughter, Rose Green, son-in-law, Jonathan; grandchildren Eric, Joseph, Annika, Clara and Colin and his youngest daughter, Bobbi Cubr and grandchildren, Alex, Ryan and Luke Taniguchi. He is preceded in death by most of his other family and friends who have been looking forward to seeing him for many years.

Funeral services will be held at 6 pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel in Mountain Home with viewing at 5 pm on Friday, May 10, 2024. Interment will be at 10 am on Saturday, May 11, 2024. Please follow link:
