My mother, Mary Purtle, was also in Lorene's canasta group along with Linda Shock's mother, Gay Ingram Shock. They not only played until midnight but afterward went back to play cards longer. Their only rule was they had to be home and in bed before the sun came up. That group of ladies had more fun than any group I knew. They also would try to outdo each other with the best desserts served. I still have many recipes that belonged to my mother that said "from Lorene's kitchen". She was such a special lady.

Lorene was one of my late mother’s best friends. They were big canasta buddies for many years and played at least once every week. Lorene was full of fun and mischief. The canasta crew always had a ball when playing with Lorene. One New Year’s Eve they played canasta until midnight then trooped outside to ring in the new year with cow bells! Lorene will be missed and I feel privileged to have known her.

Jim, Judy, and Alice you are all in my prayers. I wish I could be there this weekend with you all but know that I will be thinking of you all and praying for comfort in this time. Grandma Fulmer was always such a sweet person and when I used to live in Conway and would see her at church she always had a bright smile on her face and plenty of friends sitting around and chatting with her. She will be missed and she was very loved.
