Marvin Reid Estes, age 93, of Marshall, Arkansas went to be with the Lord on April 6th, 2024. He was born in Statesville, North Carolina on June 25th, 1930 to Ernest Lee Estes and Lottie Eugenia Messick Estes. He was married to his loving wife, Mary Lou Newell Estes for 71 years.

Marvin served in the United States Navy as an electrician from 1951 to 1954 during the Korean War aboard the USS Hamner. After his military service he joined an elevator company working as a mechanic in Asheville, North Carolina. Later he moved to Williamsport, Pennsylvania and started his own elevator company. In 1983, Marvin and Mary homesteaded 40 acres in Searcy County, Arkansas. They enjoyed building their new home, working the land and raising animals/livestock. Marvin was a deacon and member of several Southern Baptist Churches over the years. Marvin and Mary took several missionary trips, building and remodeling churches with the Rock Builders ministry. Marvin was on the committee to establish Boston Mountain Rural Health clinics. He also helped to establish the Searcy County Airport. Later in life he enjoyed his time with his family and friends. He loved spending his days with his grandkids, talking to them about Jesus. He read the Christmas Story every year and showed Jesus in everything he did.

Marvin is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Lottie Estes; five brothers; one sister; one son and one daughter-in-law.

Family left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mary Lou Estes; five sons, Alan Estes, Donnie Estes, Dale Estes, Glenn Estes (Wanda) and Roger Estes (Paula); one brother, Herman Estes; nineteen grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren and ten great-great grandchildren.

Graveside services for Marvin will be 10:00 AM Thursday, April 11th, 2024 at Watts/Jennings Cemetery near Leslie, Arkansas with Bro. Mack Litaker and Bro. Chris Reade officiating. Bearers will be John Estes, Rodney Bradford, Shane Estes, Justin Murphree, Ben Felton and David Applegate. Honorary bearers will be George Sinclair, David Efaw and Mike Banks. A Memorial service honoring Marvin's life will be held at Immanuel Baptist Church, 498 AR 16 East in Clinton, Arkansas on Saturday, April 20th, 2024 at 2:00 PM.
