She was preceded in death by her parents, Isaac ''Ike'' and Chloe Small; her brother, Bud Small and sister, Elene (JW) Coker.
Laverne was a selfless and devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great- grandmother and a humble servant to her Lord Jesus Christ. Laverne was a former Volunteer Poll Worker and member of First Assembly of God Church. She also was a factory worker at Baldwin Piano, International Shoe and professional wallpaper installer with her sister-in-law, Martha. Laverne spent most of her life as a homemaker and kept an immaculate, clean house. She was an excellent baker. She made the best desserts including: strawberry and chocolate cake, perfect coconut cream and chocolate pies and apple dumplings, just to name a few. In addition to baking, she had a wonderful garden for years where she would can fruits and vegetables, to make tomato juice, vegetable soup, green beans, corn and jellies. She was a wonderful cook. The family attended weekly Sunday dinners with her extended family and immediate family. She loved spending time with her family. She was especially pleased to have her whole family attend church with her on Mother's Day. She was a proud mother and never missed birthday cards to all her children and grandchildren. For birthdays, she'd always bake her loved one's favorite cake or dessert. It was something her children and grandchildren looked forward to. Laverne was shy, sweet and reserved, but she loved her family and the Lord. She also loved to read Reader's Digest and National Geographic magazines.
The family would like to thank the late Dr. John Smith, Conway Regional Medical Center 3rd floor Hospice and ICU team for caring for Laverne during her times of need.
