of North Little Rock, AR
August 9, 1926 - March 24, 2024
Mary Betheana Light, 96, of North Little Rock, Arkansas was called to Heaven on Sunday evening March 24, 2024. She was born on August 9th, 1927 in Hot Springs, Arkansas to Lincoln and Myrtle Lambert. In 1944 she met a handsome serviceman who quickly became the love of her life, John Light.
Mary was always a hard worker, working at ammunition's factory during World War II as a teenager and at McClard's Bar-B-Que in Hot Springs. She worked the night shift at Westing House (Phillips) for 32 years so that she could be home for her three children during the day, always attending sporting events and other activities that were important to them. After a brief retirement, she went to work for Sam's Club passing out samples. She then went to UAMS where she worked in the Patient Billing Services Department for 5 years.
Outside of work, Mary was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ, most recently as a devoted member of Pinnacle Church of Christ; her biggest wish after she became ill was to attend service in the new church building. She loved to travel, creating fond memories of trips with her children and visiting her lifelong friends. She loved plants and always had a beautiful flower garden filled with irises. Reading was one of her favorite pastimes, especially historical romance novels. Her most cherished activity was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her memory was remarkably sharp up until her passing-she always made sure that anyone telling family stories got the details right. She loved her family and everyone that they loved.
Mary is survived by three children, Susan Harmon (Jimmy) of North Little Rock, Nancy Odle (Jim) of Little Rock and Jon Light (Stacy) of Little Rock; seven grandchildren, Tawnya Philpot (Brent), Heather Harmon (Jeff Franklin), Ashley Harmon, Landon Odle, David Light, Whitney Odle, Megan Light (Joe Young); six great-grandchildren, Raymond Goss (Keeley), Olivia Light, Ben Reynolds, Adeline Franklin, Weston Light, Jax Young and one great-great-grandchild on the way. She is also survived by other loved family members. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, John Light of North Little Rock; her parents; one sister and 3 brothers.
Services will be held Thursday, March 28th at Pinnacle Church of Christ, 1 Shackleford Drive, Little Rock, AR 72211, with Ministers Chuck Monan and John Phillips officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:30pm, funeral at 1:30 pm. Interment will be at Pinecrest Memorial Park immediately following services.

Nancy and family, we are so sorry for your loss. Prayers for you all.
My heartfelt sympathies go out to Mary's children and their spouses and children. I have wonderful memories growing up with my cousins. They were more like siblings and we were always getting into mischief with Little Johnny leading the way! Aunt Mary and Uncle Johnny(that was how I addressed them) were warm and caring and we spent countless hours at their home since we only lived 2 blocks away! My childhood memories are joyful and funny thanks to the loving family I grew up with and I'm so grateful for them. Rest in Peace beloved Aunt Mary.
John and Family,
Alan and I are so sorry you to hear of the loss of your Mother. Prayers for you and your family. Alan's Mom passed about 11 years ago and was also very sharp the entire time. Alan tells me stories about you and your parents from time to time. He thought very highly of them. Take care of your self. It is never easy, but God is good and gave her a long life and the opportunity to enjoy so many Grands. I hope for that, she was very lucky, not too many get that blessing. Prayers from both of us.
Our family would like to express our deepest condolences to you and your family. Sending prayers for comfort and strength during this difficult time
