Norman Wesley Betts Sr. began walking the streets of gold on Tuesday, March 19th, 2024. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by those he loved the most.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Bonnie Betts (Alumbaugh) and his sister Peggy Clausen. Norman dearly loved his two children, Melanie and Wes. Norman loved his granddaughters-Meagan, Marissa, Hanna, and Sara-and his great grandson.
Norman was an active member of the Newport community, serving as volunteer fireman for 25 years. He dedicated 37 years to his career to Arkla Gas. Norman was a believer and practiced the Baptist faith. He proudly served his country in the Army for 2 years.
Per his instructions, there will be no funeral or memorial service. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Mccllelan VA MICU for their wonderful care and support. Norman was strong until the very end. We miss you and look forward to seeing you again.

PRAYERS FOR NORMANS FAMILY MAY GOD COMFEORT YOU ALL. I WAS IN BASIC TRAINING WITH NORMAN IN FORT POLK, LA. AND HE WAS A CLOSE FRIEND THROUGH BASIC. MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL.
