Markcus Wayne Burkett, age 78, of England, AR passed away on March 16, 2024 in England, AR. He was born on May 17, 1945.
Markcus was one of a kind, full of humor and never met a stranger. He had a deep love for his friends and family and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Markcus found joy in fishing and hunting, especially when accompanied by his fishing buddy, Johnny Woodard. He took great pride in his work, both at his place of employment and at home.
In his career, Markcus dedicated 30 years to the Aggregate Dirt plant of England before joining John Deere, where he worked for over 30 years.
He was a member of the First Pentecostal Church of England, AR, where he found solace and community.
Markcus is survived by his wife of 56 years, Brenda Kaye Burkett; his oldest son, Markcus Wayne Burkett, Jr (Dot) of Dunnegan, Missouri and their four children and one daughter-in-law. He is also survived by his daughter, Tammy (Ken) Retford of Pennsylvania and their three children, as well as his son, Chad Allen Burkett (Dedra) and their three children and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Ester Burkett; his sisters, Erma Geane Weaver, Lois Phillips, Joan Marion Burkett and Johnnie Lee Burkett and his brothers, Kenneth Burkett, Franklin Dee Burkett and Melvin Burkett.
A visitation will be held at Roller Funeral Home in England, AR on Wednesday, March 20th at 12:00with the service following immediately after at 1:00. All friends and family are welcome to attend to pay their respects.

I always enjoyed my time with Mr. Burkett when i would see him at Pony League games in England. He was a good man. My condolences to the family.

I am so sorry for your loss. Markcus was a great man. I loved how funny he was and his humor. I met him about 25 years ago and each time he was kind, generous, and very funny. He, like me, loved to play tricks and joke around with his friends. He will truly be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.
