of Searcy, AR
September 26, 1943 - March 8, 2024
Wilma Jean Caraway, 80, of Searcy, AR went to be with the Lord on March 8, 2024. She was born in Holland, MO on September 26, 1943 to the late James Raymond and Lucille Jackson Caraway.
Wilma was a woman of many talents. She was a nurse, working as an LPN for 36 years. She was a wonderful singer, singing in gospel groups as well as putting out a record with her family band, Crossroads. She kept a flower garden and was a magnificent cook. She was a fighter, surviving stage three ovarian cancer. The most important things in her life were her family and God. She was a devoted mother to her three boys and a doting grandmother when grandkids came along. She never met a stranger and treated everyone as if they were family. The love she showed to the people in her life was a reflection of the love she had for God. She trusted in God faithfully, using the Bible for guidance throughout her life. She was a hero to many and will be dearly missed.
In addition to her parents, Wilma is preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. Left to cherish her memory are three sons, Robert (Courtney) Glidewell, Mark Glidewell and Chris (Donna) Glidewell; eight grandchildren, Britney Yates, Rachel Glidewell, Shane Glidewell, Dusty Glidewell, Shelby Williams, Kyle Glidewell, Nick Light and Aspen Linhart; eight great grandchildren; one brother; one sister and a host of other friends and family.
A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Thursday, March 14, 2024 at South Heights Church of God in Searcy.
We send our deepest sympathy to all of you. We thought a lot of Wilma. She was truly a "Shekanah" fan. She was a part of our family for a few years and she was part of our singing group for a short time. Wilma was "special" and she will be remembered fondly. Our love and prayers! Alvin, Brenda and Shekanah Palmer.
