William Robert ''Bill'' Baltz, 79, of Paris, Arkansas passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was born on February 5, 1945 in Booneville to his parents, John and Wilma (Kiefer) Baltz.
Bill was retired from the City of Paris after over 20 years of service. He was a United States Army National Guard Veteran and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Paris. He enjoyed fishing but his true passion was working with horses. He was a member of the Logan County Riding Club and for many years was instrumental in promoting and operating the Paris Rodeo.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one sister, Betty Baltz and one young man he raised as his own son, Timothy Nicholas.
He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Brenda Baltz of Paris; daughters, Lecia Highfield and husband, Paul of Paris, DeeAnn Birch and husband, Robert of Conway, Tonya Varnell and husband, Ty of Paris and a young lady he raised as his own daughter, Nicole Nicholas of Paris; sisters, Mary Ann Beshoner of Paris, Judy Koch of Paris, Susan Schmitz of Cabot, Patty Lumbert of Maumelle, Jeannie Baltz of Benton and Janie Willems of Van Buren; brothers, John Baltz of Fayetteville and Donnie Baltz of Dyer; grandchildren, Bryant Highfield, Morgan Wollschlager, Alec Highfield, Katie Beth Smith, Megan Smith, Andrew Smith, Jacy Varnell, Remy Varnell, Willa Varnell, Tyner Varnell, Timberly Nicholas, Talia Nicholas and Isabella Nicholas and one great-granddaughter, Parker Beth Wollschlager.
A memorial mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Paris officiated by Fr. Reginald Udouj, O.S.B.. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Roller Funeral Home.

So sad to hear of the loss of an amazing individual! I am so grateful for the relationship he had with Daddy (Deward Kelton) that began with their mutual passion for horses! My sincere condolences to the family he treasured so much!

We would see each other at church on Saturday nights and visit after church . He will be greatly missed.
Bill would always comment on my red hair and tell me to watch out because “it will look like this one day”. He was a nice man and will be dearly missed.

I am very sorry for your family's loss...I met Bill via Deward Kelton in 1989 newly married and renting from Mr.& Mrs. Kelton. I enjoyed getting to know him and his no nonsense approach to things. His knowledge of quarter horses was probably unmatched except maybe for Deward...wish I would have took him up on his last invite to stop by sometime, he will be missed.

I will miss you Bill. I always admired your amazing fustach. I have so many memories of visiting you and family about 65 years ago. Lots of stories come to mind. I will miss seeing you when we visit Paris. Rest in peace cousin.

Remember Billy so well during the old Rodeo days of the 60's, when Andrews and Lowrey would always put on the Paris Rodeo. He was always at the rodeo's doing what cowboys do. My sympathy to his family and friends.
I never missed an opportunity to take a poke at bill or give him a one liner, he never missed an opportunity to provide a snappy comeback. Miss you old timer.

I met Bill back in 01 when I first moved here. He was an exceptional man and knew his stuff about horses and tack. Seems like I just saw him. My condolences to all his family. He will be missed.

With his mustache and hat, Bill looked like he was born in the wrong century. I could see him living in the days of Gunsmoke or something. Just loved that look. He was always so friendly to me. My sympathy to all his family. Rest in peace.
