Maynard R. Cheuvront, 94, passed away early in the morning on March 3, 2024 leaving family and friends who will cherish his memory. He was born in Lincoln, Nebraska on May 6, 1929. He was preceded in death by his parents (Ted and Ruby Cheuvront) and brother, Ted Arnold Cheuvront; his wife of 63 years, JoAnn Cheuvront; a son, Bruce and granddaughter, Danaea.
Maynard and JoAnn married in 1949, he graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1951 with a civil engineering degree and immediately went to work for Standard (Amoco) Oil. His work as a project engineer and maintenance manager took the family all over the country and provided opportunities to live in and explore many states.
Maynard was a committed believer and raised his children to live by faith in Christ as well. Wherever their travels took them, becoming involved with their local congregation was their highest priority. Over the years he helped build three church buildings, led many Bible studies, taught several Sunday School classes and served on various finance teams.
He retired when he was 57 (he often commented that he had been retired longer than he had worked for Amoco!) and then he and JoAnn took advantage of that second chapter of their life together by pouring themselves into many other endeavors: RVing to visit kids and grandkids, cruising throughout the world with friends and family, entrepreneurial work at his son's Little Rock coffee shop and constant volunteer work with many churches.
Maynard and JoAnn moved to Parkway Village in Little Rock in 2004 and he loved organizing activities for the residents such as Wii bowling tournaments, golf cart parades, card games and various other tournaments. His skillful woodworking projects, as well as his high level of ''fix-it'' skills, were shared with many neighbors and friends, along with many varieties of cookies.
Maynard had a great sense of humor and a mischievously playful side there was often a gleam in his eye and a wonderful lighthearted joy to what he was saying or hearing.
He enjoyed an amazingly full and rich life, though not one free from tragedy, suffering and challenge. However, through all the difficult times, he modeled faithfulness to the Lord, steadfastness, joy and good humor. He will be missed by family and friends alike.
Maynard is survived by 2 sons and daughters-in-law, David and Teresa (Indianapolis, IN); Roger and Terrie (Little Rock, AR); a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and David Woolard (Winston-Salem, NC); 5 grandchildren and their spouses, 14 great grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, March 7, 2024 at Commons at Parkway Village, 14300 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, Arkansas.

My condolences to Maynard's family, friends and loved ones. I did not know him well but was impressed with his quick wit, kindness and sense of humor. Praying that the shared memories and time spent with Maynard keeps him close to his loved ones.

Maynard was among the first to welcome me to Parkway and Hickory Street. When he heard I was painting some doll houses he make me a small turn table to make it easier. Our houses were across the street from each other. Of a morning if the kitchen blind was open we knew all was well for another day. Yes, Maynard you will be missed.

My life was blessed through knowing Maynard while working at Parkway Village. He was a prince of a man and enriched life at Parkway Village through his enthusiasm and creativity. He will be missed and not long forgotten.

There are no words for the legacy Maynard has left on his Parkway Village family. He has touched the lives of so many people with his kindness, love and radiant personality.

One of the finest believers I know.. He walked the walk and talked the talk, and was faithful in every way. He lived his life and raised his family in a loving way. He hosted a Bible study group with breakfast every Friday morning for approximately six years. His short bread cookies were unbeatable and he loved doing it. He was like a brother that I never had. we work together, and his woodworking shop for almost 10 years. You will be missed,

I had the privilege of working for Mr. Maynard I cleaned his cottage for several years !!He was such a gentleman. Wonderful man I am so grateful that I knew him.!! Praying for the family! He treated me with such kindness!!!

I was very fortunate to have Maynard as my next door neighbor on Hickory Street. He came to welcome John and me when we moved in several years ago. I called on him for information and advice as to serving on the board of our elected Council members. He composed and printed a very helpful booklet for guidance for those of us elected to serve there. I also really admired his cooking and how it brought him pleasure. We are all saddened by the death of our friend Maynard. He added so much to our lives at Parkway. His humor, plays, games, woodwork, clock repair and so many other gifts to the village were all appreciated. Maynard was a special Christian character. He manifested the life of Christ in his service to others. Maynard was a quiet leader with a knack of being considerate. He was an expert craftsman, creating fine pieces of furniture. Maynard taught me to live life with gratefulness and how not to be a whiner. I’ll miss his friendliness.
