Eugenia "Jean" Lowe, age 82, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, February 8, 2024. She was born on December 27, 1941, in Ethel, Mississippi, the daughter of Stuart Gibson Smith, II and Dorothy Eugenia Clifton of Ethel, Mississippi.
She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Harrison, Arkansas. Jean married Bobby Lowe on August 16, 1959, and had her first child the following year. She juggled household tasks and raising a child while working as an assistant to the county clerk. A few years later she began working at Merle Norman to expand her interest in makeup. In October of 1970, the family moved to Arkansas, living briefly in Green Forest and then moving to Harrison. When her youngest went to kindergarten, she began her career in the Harrison Public School District. Jean was a substitute teacher for the following 12 years before transitioning to a library assistant. She stepped away from Harrison Public Schools after her husband was diagnosed with Lewy body disease. Following the death of her husband, she assumed his position as condo association manager for White Oak Condominiums of Harrison.
Jean was passionate about raising the next generation. She taught 1st and 2nd grade Sunday School at First Baptist Church for many years. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and taking care of them. Jean also had a servant's heart. She never hesitated to help anyone in need. After her husband's death, she also began volunteering at the hospital as a member of the NARMC Auxiliary. She was a friend to many and a blessing to all.

Jean shared my love for the beauty industry. When she wasn’t doing it herself, lol, I loved every opportunity I had to do her hair (and Dorothy’s, as well) for all of these years.
I will miss her!
Cindy and family, Jean was indeed a blessing to all privileged to know her. Praying you find comfort in knowing that warm thoughts and sympathy are with you.
Our condolences to family and friends
Cindy (and Family),
Ms. Jean was such a special part of lives - especially the girls - during our time in Harrison. She was always a source of encouragement and steadfastness, and was an added blessing as a ministry partner to me (Bob). We pray for comfort for you in the coming days.
Jean, my friend for many, many years, I will miss you every day. We have shared a great many poignant moments................and even more joyous ones.
Rest in peace and know that the good you spread around you will continue to grow. Love, Barbara
To all of Jean's family,
I have known Jean a long time, but I most enjoyed the time when she worked at the HJHS Library. I was in there so much and would get to visit with her more often. She was a fine lady and so proud of her family.
You have many precious memories to fall back on. My prayers to all of you during this time.
Cindy, prayers for you and your family during this time. We were fortunate to have the opportunity to have your mother as a friend as she goes way back as friends with Bruce’s mom and dad. I loved Jean’s spunky personality!
Cindy, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. What a blessing it was to have such a wonderful mother. Heaven gained another angel.
Our prayers and thoughts go out to the family. We have sweet memories of Jean and her kindness.
