Jammie Denise Thomasson

of Deltona, FL

November 13, 1958 - January 19, 2024

Jammie Denise Thomasson, age 65, of Deltona, Florida, went to be with the Lord on January 19, 2024. Denise, as she was known to everyone, was born on November 13, 1958, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to Leroy ''Larry'' Hamaker and Josephine Vigil Hamaker. She was raised in Little Rock and graduated from Joe T. Robinson High School, where she played alto clarinet in the marching band. She lived in Texas, Missouri, Mississippi, and Arkansas before making her home in Deltona, Florida.

Denise and Mark have lived in Florida since 2000 and have been members of The Journey Church in Orange City, FL, since 2009. She was active in every church that she attended, wherever she lived. She made friends easily and nourished those relationships throughout her lifetime. She had a lovely voice and enjoyed singing in church.

Denise worked in several restaurants, was a care giver in a nursing home, and later joined the optical field as she became a Licensed Optician. She loved helping others with their eye care needs and had a gift for assisting others with selecting frames.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Lindsay Thomasson Bracken, and grandson, Quentin Bracken.

She is survived by her husband of 34.5 years who she loved with all her heart, Mark Thomasson of Deltona, FL; sister, Vicky (Cecil) Watts of Searcy, AR; her children, Courtney (Andrew) Shaffer of Orange City, FL, Kelsey Thomasson of Chicago, IL, and James Bracken of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren Elijah Bracken, Grayson Bracken, and Jude Shaffer. Her family meant everything to her, and she was looking forward to the birth of her new grandson in May.

Denise loved reading, cooking, music, camping, and spending time with family and friends. She was always there for loved ones when needed, whether that meant lending a hand or just providing an ear to listen. This was never done out of obligation, but because of who she was. She lived life in the moment, rarely planning anything too far in advance. She had a way of adding spark to any conversation with her own unique style and substance. Her sense of humor brought joy and laughter to any occasion. She loved spending time with the family dog, Cooper. She loved God, her church, her country, and her family with all her heart. She shared a devotional each day with her loved ones in personal text messages and on Facebook because she wanted to make sure that everyone she knew would have a personal relationship with her Lord, who could give them eternal life and strength through any problem.

The Graveside Memorial Service will be under the direction of Roller-Daniel Funeral Home in Searcy, Arkansas.

Vicky and family, I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my sister (the last of my family) a few years ago, it is a very lonely feeling to be the only one left. So many times i want to call her and ask her something and I’m sure you’ve already experienced that. But God is with us to help us through the rough times! Again, I am so sorry for your loss.

Vicky, I will never tell someone “ I know how you feel “ because I don’t even though I lost my sweet sister, I know how I felt but we all grieve differently and our pain is different. But Vicky I wish I could take your pain and replace it with peace. I will be praying for you!

To the entire family my sincere condolences. Vicky and I graduated together, Denise and my sister graduated together. I have fond memories of Denise and her entire family growing up; Church and school activities over the years too. I last got to see her at her mom’s funeral. We’ve been facebook friends over the years and no one can deny her faith in her Lord, she was witnessing on fb all the way up to the end. I know without a doubt where she is right now. Prayers for all of the family in the coming weeks and months.

I did not know Jammie, but reading her obituary lets me see who she was. She is beautiful inside and out. What a wonderful legacy to leave to her children and grandchildren. You know she is with our Lord and Savior and you will see her again someday. I hope you lean on the Lord and feel the comfort he will give you.
