Mary L. Gottsponer, 93, died Thursday, February 1, 2024 at her home in Dover. She was born January 4, 1931 in Dover to Leo and Anna Mae (Ross) Bates. Mary was deeply devoted to her family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially her grandchildren. She was fond of the outdoors and spent much of her time fishing, hunting, gardening and camping. She was also a talented quilt-maker and cook.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl J. Gottsponer; four children, Jackie Kinslow, Beverly Kinslow, Terry Kinslow and Floyd Kinslow; two grandchildren, Lance Dobbins and Rebekah Joy Gottsponer and five siblings, Eugene Bates, Vera Mae Begeman, Willadean Bates, Billie Fern Perez and Jerlene Majorwitz.
Mary is survived by two daughters, Pat Blasingame of Fayetteville and Pam Kinslow of Russellville; four step-sons, Randy Gottsponer of North Little Rock, Harry Gottsponer and his wife, Maria of North Little Rock, Glen Gottsponer and his wife, Kelly of North Little Rock and Dale Gottsponer and his wife, Karen of Conway; two daughters-in-law, Karen Kinslow and Kathy Kinslow; two brothers, Robert Bates and wife, Lena and Dennis Bates and wife, Kay; twenty-five grandchildren; forty-two great-grandchildren and fourteen great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at Pleasant Grove Assembly of God Church. Bro. Bobby Judkins and Bro. Clint Craig will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Owens Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Caden Wieties, Justin Kinslow, Dennis Lee Bates, William Callans, Kenneth Thomas Jr., Zach Boles, Cole Harrison, Robert Bates Jr. and Justin Kinslow Jr.
Mary was an amazing lady! Full of energy! Loved the family.
We believe she is reunited with many loved ones.
She will be missed on this earth.
Mary was such a wonderful lady, we knew her through the Gottsponer step-sons.
