Billy Grey ''Bill'' Davenport of Cabot, Arkansas, born at Georges Creek, Arkansas December 10, 1942 to Doyle and Anna Lea (Keeter) Davenport, passed away in Greenbrier, Arkansas Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at age 81.
Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Anna Lee; parents, Doyle and Anna Lea and grandson, Willie Galyen.
Bill is survived by his daughter, Dianna (Tom) Galyen and son, Bart (Lana) Davenport; grandchildren, Nathan (Joanna) Galyen, Amanda (Buster) Geary and James Williams; great-grandchildren, Annalynn and Henry Galyen and Daxton and Audrey Geary; brothers, Ron (Lavonne) and Kirby (Cindy) Davenport and many other treasured family members and friends.
On October 20, 1963, Bill married the love of his life, Anna Lee Blasdel. Together they loved the Lord, raised Dianna and Bart, hunted, fished and faced life's difficulties. Their favorite recreation was taking road trips to Colorado.
Preaching the Gospel was Bill's highest honor and accomplishment. He was a devoted student and teacher of the Bible. His preaching career spanned six decades, serving many precious small congregations.
Bill worked many years as a chemist at Baxter Lab in Mountain Home after earning a Bachelor's degree at Harding University. He worked a few years at LaBarge in Huntsville, Arkansas, then earned a second degree in education and taught high school a few years. He delighted in helping people with social services in Yellville in the last years of his career.
Bill loved the outdoors. He was an excellent marksman who loved fishing, hiking and hunting and eating wild game. He enjoyed flowers and gardening and appreciated classical music.
A funeral service is planned for 10:00 am Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Caney Church of Christ.
Interment will follow at Caney Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Larry Blasdel, Jr., Tyler Blasdel, Anthony Davenport, Tim Davenport, Buster Geary and James Williams

Arrangements are by Roller-Burns Funeral Home in Yellville.
To all of Bill’s family my sincere sympathy. I worked across the hall from Bill for many years at the DHS office in Yellville. He was a gentle man who gave a lot of good will to many, regardless of their circumstances or station in life. He was deeply respected for his work ethic and authentic caring manner. I am just now hearing about your loss and it makes me sad that you had to give him up. Prayers for you all are going up.

I am so shocked and saddened to hear of Bills demise. He and Anna Lee were good friends and neighbors. My heartfelt sympathies go out to his children and grandchildren. He was a good neighbor, brother in Christ and family man.
