Ezelle Hanks

of Bergman, AR

June 10, 1938 - January 30, 2024

Ezelle Hanks of Bergman, Arkansas passed away on January 30, 2024 surrounded by her loved ones at her home, at the age of 85. She was born June 10, 1938 to Walter and May (Lay) Spillman in Red River Parish, Louisiana.

Ezelle attended Ozark Baptist Church for many years. Ezelle and her family moved from Coushatta, Louisiana in 1989 to Arkansas. She raised chickens for 34 years. She loved talking about her granddaughter, Katie and taking care of her family. She was the rock, the one that was always there for her family. She loved to watch her son race four-wheelers, as he was her pride and joy.

Ezelle was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Hanks; her parents; two sisters, Isabelle Bates and Wynell Tidwell and one brother, Emanuel Spillman.

Ezelle is survived by her son, Mike (Liz) Hanks of Bergman; her granddaughter, Katie Hanks of Bergman; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one special niece, ''Brat'' and a host of other family and friends who will dearly miss her.


Visitation was on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home.

The funeral service was Friday, February 2, 2024 at Ozark Baptist Church, with Bro. Jamey James officiating.

The interment was at Keesee Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Micah Loe, Jake Rand, Joe Bartly and Seth Canady.

Honorary Pallbearers were Clint Fowler, The Members of Ozark Baptist Church and Bro. Jerry Bryant.

So sorry for your loss. Ezell was a good friend. I have eaten at her table and she was a great cook. A joy to know we will see her again in Heaven.

So sorry for your loss ,loved her and your dad. They were very special. She loved her family. Prayers for all
