of Mountain View, AR
July 23, 1946 - January 10, 2024
Lorraine Richardson Jordan, age 77, was born July 23, 1946 in Marshall, Arkansas to Harry K. Richardson and Ruby Stewart Richardson. She entered into heaven on January 10, 2024 at her home in Mountain View, Arkansas. During her lifetime, she was an educator in the Mountain View School system for 27 years. Many of her students will remember her as a ''Teacher that scared them to death, but one that cared about their learning.''. It was said that one of the tasks that she made every single student accomplish was to memorize their social security numbers. She is quoted as saying, ''You'll be using this number for the rest of your life, so you need to get this memorized.''. During her educational career she performed extra duties as cheerleading sponsor for 17 years, Beta Club Sponsor and bookkeeper at the home basketball games. She might have been a fierce teacher in the classroom, but not a day went by that she didn't love all of her students.
After retiring from the classroom she began running a small gift shop called ''Nana's Place'' but the majority of her time was spent giving back to her community, friends and family. She and her husband were instrumental in beginning the Stone County Leadership Program, where students participated in the basics and fundamentals of being good leaders. Her most joyful times during retirement was spent caring for her great grandchildren and making sure her family never did without.
She was a Christian by faith and a member of the School Avenue Church of Christ. She always felt that her relationship with God was personal and she never let anyone infringe upon that right.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Harry K. Richardson, Ruby Stewart (Richardson) Henderson; her stepdad, Floyd J Henderson and her aunt, Marie Stewart Whitfield.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Don R. Jordan; a son, David S. Roberts; a daughter, Lorrie Sadler (Everette); grandchildren, Emilee Cartwright (Brayden), Morgan Masters (Johnathan), James Cartwright (Sydney) and Grace Roberts and great grandchildren, Jak, Ava and EJ Masters, Cash and Creed Cartwright. She was also blessed with an extended and bonus family that included four step children, many step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. Her many cousins near and far will greatly miss her.
Pallbearers assisting are Everette Sadler, James Cartwright, Jonathan Masters, Jimmy Masters, Brayden Morrison and Ryan Webb.
Visitation will be held at Roller Crouch Funeral Home on Saturday, January 13, 2024 from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM. Graveside Service will follow at 1:30 PM at the Levisy Flat Cemetery in Mountain View, Arkansas with Eddie Passmore officiating.
In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to the Stone County Scholarship Foundation for a scholarship that will be established in her memory.
Sorry for the family lost, she did know how to wake up a class.but deep down she really cared
Lorraine and I were childhood friends. We learned to roller skate, played Jacks, on Grandma Opal's sidewalk. Played in piano recitals for which I wore a passed on formal dress from Lorraine. Enjoyed some of Grand Opal's chewing gum from the pantry. Mom Ruby took us to movies on Sunday afternoon. We spent as much time as we could together. Lorraine was like a Big Sister to me. We continued to stay in touch through the years. Lorraine will be missed by many people including me from miles away.

Mrs. Jordan was my math teacher at Mountain View and was gifted in teaching in many different ways. She touched so many in this community and will be remembered as an outstanding educator, and a devoted mother and grandmother. I remember her talking about her grandchildren in class and you could tell by the way she spoke about her family they meant everything to her.
May God bless her friends and loved ones during their sorrow and give them the comfort that only He can. Godspeed.
My condolences to the family.
