In Celebration of the life of Mary Elizabeth (Bratton) Caston

Mary Elizabeth (Bratton) Caston was born November 28, 1936 in Fulton, Missouri to William and Mary (Hopper) Bratton. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She passed away peacefully at the age of 87, in Walker, LA. She was surrounded by the love of her family and the memories of a life well-lived.

Mary's biological mother died soon after childbirth and Mary was taken in by her aunt, Ruth Hopper who became Mary's mother. Mary was a devoted wife to her late husband, Clesson, and they created a beautiful family together. As a mother, she was the heart and soul of her household, nurturing seven children with unwavering love and dedication. She provided her children with a loving home filled with warmth and laughter.

Mary was very creative and was always coming up with new ideas. Those ideas from a busy lady spurred a common quote from her "I'll get around to it one day". She was very busy on the Caston farm. Vacations were few and far between. In Mary's spare time, she enjoyed growing her front porch roses, sewing and painting. She has passed these hobbies on to many generations.

Mary's journey on this earth may have come to an end, but her legacy of love and laughter will forever remain in our hearts. Her infectious laughter was a source of joy for all who knew her. She had an incredible sense of humor and could always find the humor in life's simplest moments, often laughing heartily at Reader's Digest jokes. Her laughter was a reflection of the happiness she brought to those around her.

A woman of faith, Mary was a fine Christian who attended church regularly, read the Bible, and offered her prayers to the Lord. Her children remember her coming to their bedrooms every night to say their prayers together. Her faith was a guiding light in her life, and it served as an inspiration to her family and friends.

In her later years, Mary was faced with the challenges of dementia. The last 5 years of her life were spent in the home of her eldest daughter, Liz, of Walker, Louisiana. Liz cared for her, ensuring that her mother's final years were filled with love and comfort. This act of devotion exemplified the deep bond between Mary and her children, a testament to the profound love she inspired in them.

Mary Elizabeth Caston leaves behind a lasting legacy of love and faith. She is survived by her seven children: Lewis Caston (Bennetta), Robert Caston, Liz Black, David Caston (Tracy), Susan Katcher, Fred Caston (Maria), and Jim Caston. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, Tyler Caston (Lauren), Taylor McClung (Matt), Torrie Smith (Michael), Keegan Caston, Ashley Michelli (CJ), Amber Wittig (Austin), Cameron Caston (Amanda), Brandon Caston (Alexis), Dakota Katcher, Alex Katcher, Cody Caston (Katie), Dustin Caston (Erica), Tanner Caston (Bethany), Carlos Caston, Chaz Caston and 13 great-grandchildren, Case, Addison, Chloe Mae, Magnolia, Lane, Luke, Logan, Collin, Olivia, Miles, Josie, Blakely and Carbin.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clesson, her mother, Ruth Hopper Hardaway, brothers Bud Hopper and Billy Wendt, sister Juanita Emerson and grandson, Christian Caston.

Mary's memory will forever shine brightly in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a source of love, laughter and inspiration to her family and friends and her spirit will live on in the countless lives she touched. As we say our goodbyes, let us remember the joy and love she brought into our lives and celebrate the beautiful legacy she leaves behind. Mary was loved by all who knew her.

Visitation will be held on January 5, 2024 at 12:00 PM at Timbo Valley Assembly of God, Funeral Services at 1:00 PM, Interment will be at Timbo Cemetery. Please join us in remembering and celebrating the life of this remarkable woman who will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
