Robert "Bobby" Walter Wienert of Harrison, passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2023. He was 82 years old. Born in Aurora, Illinois on September 8, 1941, he was the youngest of six children born to Walter Otto and Erna Elizabeth (Wesche) Wienert.
Robert was a 1961 graduate of Valley Springs High School. He enlisted in the US Army Reserves in 1962, faithfully serving until 1969. On October 15, 1966, he married Ora Lee (Speak). Their union brought forth a beautiful family, including two daughters, Deana Wienert and Amy Deere; and two granddaughters, Allison Holton and Magnolia Deere.
Robert worked at Lair Engine Rebuilding, Harrison Furniture, Sutton Wood Products, and the Harrison Daily Times. Those who were lucky to know him and work with him will remember his kindness, reliability, and strong work ethic. Robert enjoyed fishing for crappie and brownies from the banks of Crooked Creek.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Lois Wienert, Anne King, Joan Mathis, and Carol Baughman; and one, brother, Bud Wienert.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Ora Lee Wienert; two daughters, Deana Wienert, and Amy Deere; two granddaughters, Allison Holton, and Magnolia Deere; and a host of nieces and nephews; other family and friends.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Hillcrest Nursing Home for their compassionate care in Robert's final days.
A memorial service celebrating Robert's life was held on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home in Harrison. Burial was at Bellefonte Cemetery.
Pallbearers included J.T. Speak, Jesse Deere, Gary Wienert, Greg Wienert, Garrett Wienert, and Ty Holton.

I'm so sorry to hear of Robert's passing. I did not know him but Ora Lee was mamma's room mate at HillCrest, Ora Lee was always friendly and kind to us when we come to see Mamma. I understand her loss of her husband. Our prayers are with your family. God Bless.

We offer our heartfelt prayers to the entire Wienert family during this difficult time. Although we didn't know Robert, we both know his daughter Amy Deere, a wife and a mom to two beautiful daughters, Ally and Nola. Her Dad's lifetime of hard work and dedication to Family is reflected every day in Amy's life at home and at work. God now has another star in Heaven. God Bless Robert Wienert.
