J.D. McHalffey of Brookland, AR passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2023 at his home, at the age of 86 years. He was born December 8, 1937 in Black Oak, AR to Harvey and Vera (Norris) McHalffey. J.D. was a member of Woods Chapel Baptist Church and worked for the Arkansas Highway Department until retirement. He loved fishing, hunting and camping. He proudly served in the 82nd Airborne division as a paratrooper in the US Army.
J.D. was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 64 years, Geraldine McHalffey.
Those left behind to cherish the wonderful memories of J.D. include his son, David (Debbie) McHalffey; a daughter, Terry McHalffey; five grandchildren, Jennifer (David) Vaughn, Candie McHalffey, Ashley McHalffey, Dianna Sairls and Melissa (Trevor) Carsen; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and a sister, Patsy Williams.
Chapel services will be 10 am Friday, December 22, 2023 at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, 1900 West Washington Avenue in Jonesboro with Rick Hathcoat officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Log Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5 pm to 7 pm at the funeral home.
Cory Long, Steve Kelley, David Vaughn, Sal Vega, Brandon Sairls and Logan White will serve as pallbearers with Butch Brown serving as honorary pallbearer.
Dave (Debbie), I'm so sorry to hear of your Dad's Passing. Keep your memories dear to your Heart, it will ease the pain.
