of North Little Rock, AR
August 1, 1930 - December 17, 2023
Velma ''Joyce'' Gazaway was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She left this world to enter her eternal home with Jesus on December 17, 2023
She was born to Van and Goldie Whitson on August 1, 1930 in Knobel, Arkansas,
After graduating from Knobel High, Joyce met Pringle Gazaway in a cotton field in Arkansas. They married in 1947 and had two daughters, Susan and Debby.
Joyce was predeceased by her husband, Pringle; her parents and three sisters, Peggy Jenkins, Vanita Turcol and Hilda Larsen.
She was a full-time homemaker but also held part time positions with the NLR Times and Little Rock Convention Bureau.
The simplest pleasures in life brought joy to Joyce. She loved to read, garden and play Bridge with friends. But there were times you would find Joyce and Pringle square dancing in Levy.
Joyce was a long-time member of Park Hill Baptist Church in NLR. She taught 3rd grade Sunday School for many years. She considered this her God given calling. Joyce and Pringle were active on Andrew Teams and Shepherds Ministries. Joyce served in a leadership position in International Bible Study Fellowship.
She is survived by Susan Coleman (Dalton) and Debby Hamilton (Clay). Her four grandchildren are Keith Baxter (Becky), Stacey Paparic, Gabriel Hamilton (Ree) and Hunter Hamilton (Terrah). Great-grandchildren include Alexis Bell (Brian), Ashton Paparic, Aiden and MacKenzie Baxter, Walt, Henry and Iris Hamilton. One great great-granddaughter is Ava Hoyt.
Joyce often said, ''My desire is to honor God and to lift up Jesus.'' She exemplified this by her life.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be given to a charity of your choice.
