Vivian JoAnn McGee of Brookland, AR, known to her family and friends as Ann, passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro, AR at the age of 78 years. Ann was born January 3, 1945 in Brookland, AR to Ray and Vivian (Gambill) Dooley. She worked for General Electric until retirement in 2006, at which time she resumed being a full-time housewife. She was a member of Brookland Baptist Church, which she loved very much and was very active gathering local children for church and where she also kept the nursery. She loved taking care of her family and anyone who needed help.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Buddy (Kay) Dooley; a sister-in-law, Patricia McGee and a brother-in-law, Jerry Hays.
Those left behind to cherish the wonderful memories of Ann include her husband of 59 years, Dale McGee; two sons, Scotty (Pam) McGee and Shawn McGee of the home; a daughter, Susan (Bobby Barton) Loyd; five grandsons and two granddaughters; seven great-grandsons and awaiting the arrival of number eight; four great-granddaughters; a brother, Jimmy (Lapez) Dooley; a sister, Norma Hays and several nieces and nephews.
Chapel services will be 2 pm Friday, December 15, 2023 at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, 1900 West Washington Avenue in Jonesboro with Bro. Loyd Humphrey, Bro. Rodney Manley and grandson, Eric McGee speaking. Burial will follow at Pine Log Cemetery in Brookland.
Visitation will precede the service from 1 pm to 2 pm.
Michael Dooley, Justin Loyd, Eric McGee, Corey Lammers, Kyle McGee and Jordan Loyd will proudly serve as pallbearers. Sonny Crain, David Jones, Greg Nall, Tim Hudson and Kerry Kee will serve as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for lasting memorials in Ann's name be made to either the Brookland Baptist Church or to the Pine Log Cemetery.
