Doyle Murphy Hughes, Jr., 81, of Little Rock, went to be with the Lord on December 14, 2023. He was born on September 12, 1942, in Malvern, Arkansas to the late Doyle Murphy Hughes, Sr. and Ada Griggs.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Myrne. He is survived by his wife, Helen; daughters, Karen Bailey (Noel) and Laura Smith (Mark); grandchildren, Mathew Butler (Kristin), Savanna Lockridge, and Cara Beth Lockridge.
A graveside service will be 2:00pm. Thursday, December 21, 2023, at Neighbors Cemetery in Midway, Arkansas. A Memorial Service will be 2:00pm on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at Westover Hills Presbyterian Church, 6400 Kavanaugh Blvd Little Rock, Arkansas 72207

Doyle was a valued member of Westover Hills Presbyterian Church. He was always ready to make a freezer of ice cream for the Ice Cream Social, to run the popcorn machine for church events, and be an integral part of the choir. He will be missed. Deepest sympathy to Helen and the family.

I am saddened and surprised to learn of Doyle’s death. I worked with him for several years at AHDT. He was a very smart and gentle man. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

We were Highway Department Internal Auditors. Doyle was one of the nicest people I have ever worked with in my entire career. Just a very pleasant and respectful man. RIP.

Always enjoyed working with Doyle during my years at AHTD. Also served with him on the Retiree Ex Board when I was president. He will be remembered by all that knew him
