Paul E. Spann

of Mabelvale, AR

August 20, 1929 - November 4, 2023

Paul Eugene Spann was born August 20, 1929, to Coy and Altha Spann in Little Rock, Arkansas and passed away on November 4, 2023; he was 94 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son; Gary Spann, the mother of his children; Virginia Spann, his second wife; Patricia Spann, and his sister; Donna Fimpel

Paul is survived by his daughter; Brenda (and husband, Aaron) Browning, his sons; Rick (and wife, Trudi) Spann, and Donald (and wife, Cristy) Spann, and his sister; Edith Blythe, 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild, along with a host of extended family and friends who loved him dearly, as he loved them.

Paul was known as a hard-working man and "jack-of-all trades". He graduated high school as a mechanic, was a skilled carpenter and built numerous houses, and was a grocery store owner/operator. After retirement, he purchased a dump truck and hauled dirt and gravel for several years. He was a friend to many, entertaining with a joke and a laugh or a prank. He served as a deacon at Liberty Missionary Baptist Church for many years and, at the time of his passing, was a member of Olive Hill Baptist Church.

His hobbies included work around his property, like excavating his huge back-yard pond, constructing shops and stables, restoring tractors and equipment, entertaining family and friends with stories and song, enjoying his morning coffee while watching the variety of birds on his feeder overlooking his back yard and pond, writing poems, bowling, 'coon hunting, and deer hunting (for which he was proud to have earned 5 "Triple-Trophy" awards) and delighted in hosting get-togethers with his family and church-families.

The family would like to express their appreciation for the newest members of Paul's circle of loved family and friends; Tommi Holliman and Tosha Hartman, Summer Parrish and the staff of Heavenly Hands Caregivers, who went "above and beyond" to help us provide comfort and loving care for our "Daddy/Poppy".

We were neighbors, friends and fellow church members. He was always friendly and wore a smile.

Paul was a man who followed the rule 'Treat others as you want to be treated. For that reason I am very grateful that he was my Uncle Gene. To all the Spann family/friends I know you will cherish all the special moments. My prayer for you is that God gives you comfort knowing we will see them soon.

Our sympathy to the family upon your loss of this great man. Liberty MBC was blessed to have him as a deacon, and he blessed us tremendously while we were serving there. We will miss his joke of the week which he was always ready to share! He has moved on to his reward!
