On October 28, 2023, Phyllis Dee Phipps, 72, died peacefully at home after a courageous 7 1/2 year battle with cancer. Dee was born on October 17, 1951 in Denver, Colorado to Philip Drysdale Alderson and Dorothy Briggs Alderson. Dee loved being a Colorado native graduating with straight-As from South Denver High School in 1969. At the tender age of 17, she enrolled as a Freshman at Oklahoma Christian College (now Oklahoma Christian University). It was there she met the love of her life, Phillip C. Phipps, marrying him on May 28, 1971. She and Phil celebrated 52 years together this past May. In 1972, her overachievement was on full display, taking only three years to graduate cum laude (while pregnant) with a Bachelor of Science in Education. Later in 1977, she received her Master of Education Degree from the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO).
Dee was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and cherished friend. She held the roles of motherhood and homemaking in the highest calling, approaching both with unwavering excellence, selflessness and dedication. Extending a caring hand to those in need, she was a steadfast source of timely comfort and gentle solace. This innate compassion drove her passion for Christian education, leading her to co-direct Rainbow Village for over a decade, nurturing the youth of Wilshire Church of Christ. Subsequently, she fostered her own love for learning by becoming a leader in Bible Study Fellowship and enrolling in countless Precept Upon Precept classes. Never one to be idle, in her mid-40s, Dee obtained ACE certification as an aerobic and fitness instructor, dedicating the next 25+ years to teaching weekly aerobic classes. Then, in 1997, Dee and Phil embarked on their boldest adventure yet: founding their small business, Phipps Phast Oil Change. Dee's savvy organizational skills proved invaluable as she and Phil blessed Edmond, Oklahoma one oil change at a time.
Dee is survived by her husband, Phillip of Little Rock, AR; children, Jennifer of Bend, OR; Townsend (Rhonda) of Maumelle, AR; Blaine (Paige) of Little Rock, AR; siblings, Donna of Edmond, OK; Marsha of Las Cruces, NM; Rick of Lantana, TX; grandchildren, Evelyn, Jenson, Isabelle, Emory, Miller and Sunday.
Dee's faithfulness and deep devotion to her Lord remain a blessing beyond measure to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Undoubtedly, she will be forever remembered by the hallmarks of her sacrificial love, servant's heart, thoughtful presence and joyful spirit. Dee was a woman of faith, follower of Jesus and friend of God.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your sweet family. What a beautiful tribute to your beautiful wife. She no doubt had such a positive impact on so many as she poured out God's love on all those she encountered.
Dee was a lifesaver for many over the years. When I was a young Mom I was in her aerobics class. She saw I was in over my head and offered to keep my two year old son while I went to prenatal appointments. From that point on she was part of our lives. She brought meals, kept our kids, but more than any act of service she would pray for us and with us. She encouraged me through many a season and I thank God for her beautiful life.
