of Marshall, AR

February 16, 1940 - October 16, 2023

Sharon McGuire, age 83, of Marshall, Arkansas passed from this life on Monday, October 16th, 2023 at Baxter Health in Mountain Home, Arkansas. She was born in Palatka, Arkansas on February 16th, 1940 to Don Niles Ruff and Elma Lancaster Ruff.

Sharon attended the Marshall Church of Christ. She graduated high school in Corning, Arkansas where she lettered in Cheerleading. She then went on to attend the University of Missouri in Columbia. While going to school there she met her husband of 63 years, David Daniel McGuire, at a square dance they were attending. Dan's military service made Sharon into a world traveler. Her two sons were born while she was living in Japan. She followed Dan to Germany and numerous other service locations. Sharon later attended Missouri Southern State College in Joplin, MO. She was a lady of many talents. She obtained her pilots license and was an avid sail boat operator and skier. She loved outdoors and nature, going on walks and feeding her birds. Sharon had a beautiful smile. She was a woman of great empathy and always saw the good in those she was acquainted with. She simply loved people especially babies. Her smile and kind spirit will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include her husband, David Daniel McGuire of the home; two sons, Niles Daniel McGuire of Huntsville, AL and Brent David McGuire and daughter-in-law Victoria of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren, Niles Paul McGuire, Allison Joyce McGuire and Sean Grey McGuire; great-grandchildren, Evelyn Belle McGuire, Madelyn Paige McGuire and their mother Lauren McGuire; siblings, Sandra Claudette Bracken of Marshall and Gwen Ruff, also of Marshall; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, Don and Elma Ruff and one grandchild, Nathan Lake McGuire.

Memorial services for Sharon will be 10:00 AM Monday, October 23rd, 2023 at Roller-Coffman Chapel in Marshall, Arkansas with Bro. Darryl Treat and Bro. Randy Searight officiating. Burial will be in Marshall Memorial Gardens after the service.
