Mrs. Lena Duerr, 87, of Bono passed away Friday, October 13, 2023 at the Flo and Phil Hospice House in Jonesboro. She was born May 15, 1936 in Watonga, Oklahoma to James and Lela (Piper) Holaday. She loved being a Marine, quilting and sewing and was an active member of Walnut Street Baptist Church.
Her mother, Lela, passed away when Lena was very young. Lena and her sisters, Sue, Norma and Mae went to live at the Oklahoma Baptist Children's Home. There they prospered and grew to know the Lord. Lena did two years at college before joining the Marine Corp. where she met her husband to be, Ronald Duerr. They had four children Ronald, Jr. and wife, Gabriella of Italy; Diana Duerr of Bono, Lisa McCoy and husband, Charles and David and his wife, Ashton all of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Alex Blanchard, Caleb (Mandy) McCoy, Joshua Duerr, Zachary Duerr, Abigail Duerr, Lillian Duerr, Mason Duerr, Francesca (Damien) Horton, Alessandra (Alex) Harper and Martina Duerr; 9 great-grandchildren and one on the way and sisters, Norma Emmons and Mae Penn.
She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Ronald Duerr and grandson, Alan Colvin; brothers, James, Willie, Virgil, Alvie, Allen Holaday and sister, Sue Engles.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home Chapel, 1900 West Washington Avenue, Jonesboro, AR. Visitation will precede services at 10:00 am. Burial will be in Jonesboro Memorial Park.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be David Duerr, Zachary Duerr, Caleb McCoy, Terry Holaday, Tim Holaday and Diana Duerr.

I was very sad to hear of your passing. I loved when you and your family visited us in Chicago because we knew we would have a good time. It was always great to see you and Uncle Ronnie. Rest in peace.
