Janice Lanette Wendel

of Rose Bud, AR

October 16, 1951 - October 2, 2023

Janice Lanette Wendel, 71, of Rose Bud passed away on Monday morning, October 2, 2023 surrounded by her family. She was born on October 16, 1951 to Glenn Leroy "Jake" and Nora Laverne Hartsell Healy at the Rogers Hospital in Searcy, Arkansas. She was of the Baptist faith and she was strong in her faith. Janice is preceded in death by her father and mother; her twin sister, Dana Vonette Healy; her brother, Danny L. Healy and her granddaughter, Arabella "Bella" Mash.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Glen Wendel of Rose Bud; two daughters, Dana (David) Mash of Beebe and Dawn (Adam) Stark of Rose Bud; two grandsons, Logan and Lukas Mash of Beebe; one sister, Glenda Pike of Quitman; along with many other beloved family and friends.
Janice remained in Rose Bud her entire life and loved being at home. She met and married the love of her life, Glen Wendel on August 31, 1974 and they worked side by side in their home and in their trucking company. He kept the truck on the road and she worked as the bookkeeper and the dispatch for his loads. While she was doing that, she kept the home going with their daughters. She worked around the house gardening and raising rabbits for a period, but that took too much time away from her family, so she stopped doing that.

Her main goal in life was to be at home and be able to do things for them. She was active in the girl's activities from being a Homeroom mother to helping with softball teams. She was always there and the girls did not have to wonder if she would be there. They watched their mom work hard in the garden when they would plant large vegetable gardens in the spring. They remember when she and her friends would gather and have multi-family carport or yard sales and how she enjoyed just the time they were together. Janice loved to have company and just have friends over to visit. Glen and Janice were frequently found at auctions and would stay until they were over, and on the way home, would stop at Shoney's to get a hot meal of breakfast food off the bar.

Most of all she loved the holiday seasons, especially Christmas. Her mom would come and help decorate the house and she even left part of the Christmas lights up all year long. She looked forward to the company that would be coming so she could get caught up with everyone.

Services are scheduled for Friday, October 6, 2023 at Mount Bethel Freewill Baptist Church with Visitation to be held from 1:00 to 2:00 PM and the Funeral Service to begin at 2:00 PM. Interment will be at Mt. Bethel Cemetery following the service. Pallbearers will be Dylan Herndon, Jarred Healy, Christopher Stark, Tony Healy, Jack Hartsell and Chris Mash. Honorary Pallbearers will be Cole Hartsell, Logan Mash and Lukas Mash. All services are under the direction of Roller-Daniel Funeral Home, Searcy.

I can not recall ever seeing Nettie as I called her but she wasn't smiling even when she didn't feel like it. Always king & caring. Prayers & love to the family.

Janice was a best friend for life. We raised our children together and had so much fun doing it. We shared lots of laughter, lots of tears, and heartache together. She was always there for me as well as everyone she knew and loved. I have so many fond and wonderful memories of our many days spent together. We enjoyed so many days of softball and bowling with Dawn and Angel. I look back on those memories a lot of days in my lifetime and love each one. There will never be a better friend than Janice. She had a heart of gold and I will miss her immensely. I will see you later, dear friend. Please hold Angel’s hand for me. I love you, Janice.

Love you Janice and will never forget all our time together.
All the day trips, site seeing and dreaming of places we wanted to go.
All the talks, laughs and tears.
We never got around to doing our rock garden with rocks from every place we went.
You were such a strong person and never gave up . I've seen you do so much and work so hard.
I love you and will always carry you in my heart.
Give my mom a hug for me.

My story with Jan started at the coffee shop, and we became close friends, then we found out weeks later that we were cousins.
So over the last 43 yrs we became closer than ever.
I’d go to visit or spend the night with her and Glen, we’d laugh and talked about the good old times. Yes she was 71yrs old but in her heart she was still young and we’d say we’re never growing up.
I loved her dearly and will miss her. When my mother died she’s who was there for me, and kinda Step into a mother figure to me.
My life will never be the same with out her.
Spread your wings wide my friend, cousin, and mom figure, You’ve earned them. Just know you’ll be missed.
Love Rhonda Hall
