Jerome Cooper, 68, of Alexander passed away peacefully at home on Friday, September 22, 2023.
Jerome was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to H.D. and Sarah Alice Cooper. He graduated from Russellville High School. He graduated from college at Central Baptist College and then received his master's degree at the Baptist Missionary Association Theological Seminary in Jacksonville, Texas. He pastored several churches and worked as an editor at the Baptist Publishing House for 25 years. He ended his ministry on staff at Immanuel Baptist Church in Nashville, Arkansas where he worked for 18 years. He was a member of the Collective Church of Bryant where he enjoyed studying the word of the Lord.
Jerome is survived by his wife of 47 years, Peggy Cooper; his mother, Sarah Alice Cooper (Yerby); his two daughters, Sarah Lyn Cooper (Robert Ellison) and Jessica McGinty (Jeremy); his sisters, Camellia Lewis and Jeanine Miller and his two grandsons, Bo McGinty and Ty McGinty. He is preceded in death by his father, H.D. Cooper. He will be missed dearly by his friends and family, especially by his grandsons who he adored.
A memorial service will be held at Collective Church of Bryant on Friday, September 29, 2023 at 2PM. A visitation will start one hour prior to the service.
I was a fellow church member with Jerome during his time in Mississippi. He was a true Christian who will be greatly missed. Prayers for his family.
I was privileged to serve on the Publishing House Board when Jerome was serving there. Jerome was always such an gentle soul and beautiful picture of a Christian servant. I value the memory of his service and the help he was always willing to give. I am praying for the family and looking forward to seeing Jerome again in eternity.

Thoughts and prayers have been with you guys through this. I've known Jerome for many, many years and he was always the total gentleman, always had a smile on his face. And the hair....never a hair out of place :) Sweet memories.

Jerome was a wonderful godly man who modeled for me what serving the Lord in vocational ministry looked like. So sorry to hear about his passing. Praying for the entire family and the Lord’s comfort and peace for all!!
