My deepest sympathies to you on the loss of such a great man. I have such fond memories of Jimmy when we were growing up. He was such a patient, kind and gentle soul. He would walk through the pastures with me to catch “Debbie” the pony for me to ride during my visits. We would love coming to Lonoke and cherish our time together. Jimmy will be missed. Gone too soon! Rest in peace Jimmy! With love, Jacquie Scott

Cousin Jimmy was a good man that I admired as a boy 10 years his junior. Jimmy was in high school when our mothers/sisters would visit at the family farm, and Jimmy would saddle their pony "Debbie" for my sisters and I to ride. He was patient and kind with us, his younger, city-raised cousins.

I remember he sent us a picture when he was serving in the army in the Vietnam. The picture shows him posing with a young boy who was working in the rice paddies in the area they were patrolling. Jimmy knelt down on one knee to be closer to the boy's height. The boy's smile is at once both curious and proud and I imagine that Jimmy was kidding with the boy before the picture was taken. I admire Jimmy for his service to our country at a time when it was slow to appreciate what he endured in his service, as a severely-wounded soldier and as a veteran. I also admire his work-ethic as a veteran who worked a long career after his service and recovery.

I know he was loved by his parents Jim and Thelma, his sister Barbara, his wife and children, grandchildren and his extended family of Aunt Corky, Uncle Bob, cousins, nephews, and grandnieces.

My cousin, brother, cowboy, soldier, veteran, husband, Father, Grandfather, thank you for serving to make a better world; you will be missed.
