George Searcy Penter, 93, of Jonesboro passed away Saturday, September 16, 2023 at NEA Baptist Hospital. He was born August 9, 1930 in Black Oak to Della (Fletcher) and Perry Penter. He was a member of Nettleton Church of Christ, worked for City Water and Light for forty-one years. He loved crossword puzzles and reading his bible.
He is preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and one brother.
Those left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of seventy-two years, Pauline Marie Penter; son, Rick (Sharol) Penter; daughter, Deborah Hester; grandchildren, Holly (Brad) Brown, Matthew Browning, Meredith Gann, Camron (Martina) Penter, Cassie (Caleb) Danley and Austin (Albany) Penter; eleven great and one great-great grandchild,
Graveside Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, September 22, 2023 at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Matthew Browning, Alex Brown, Noah Brown, Camron Penter, Austin Penter and Caleb Danley.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Nettleton Church of Christ.

There is no kinder or caring Christian than brother Penter. I just have nothing but fond memories of brother Penter. He is the answer to humility and kindness. I enjoyed seeing and being with bother brother and sister Penter. He will be greatly missed. If the world was like him, there would be total peace and honesty.
