Gerald Frank Southard, 95, of Benton, Arkansas passed away on August 14, 2023.
Gerald was born in Story, Arkansas to Allie and Thelma Southard on December 13, 1927. He was the youngest Fire Chief at the Arkansas State Hospital at age twenty-four, he served as the chief from 1952 to 1956. He then became a volunteer fire fighter for the city of Benton for twenty years from 1953 to 1973. As well as worked for Reynolds Aluminum from 1956 to 1986, when he retired. He was a faithful member of the New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church. And he served our country in WWII in the U.S. Army
Gerald is survived by his wife, Patricia (Smith) Southard; son, Gerald Del Southard (Courtnay); daughter, Vanessia Burrow (Jimmy Lawrence); grandchildren, Dustin Mcvay, Jayden Southard, Madison Southard, Grayson Southard, and Turner Southard and great grandchildren, Sawyer Southard, Emery Southard and Landry Southard. He is preceded in death by his brother, Royal Joe Southard.
A funeral service will be held at Roller-Alcoa Funeral Home on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at 10:00AM with Bro. David Standridge officiating. Burial will follow at Rosemont Cemetery in Benton, Arkansas. Visitation will be held at Roller-Alcoa Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 16, 2023.

I am very sorry to hear of the passing of Gerald. I worked with him and Reynolds and of course used to go to church with all of you at Bethel. May God wrap His loving arms around you and give you strength in the coming days.
