of Little Rock, AR
November 9, 1982 - August 2, 2023
Jessica Ann Sahene passed away unexpectedly on August 2, 2023 at the age of 40. She was born November 9, 1982 and lived most of her life in Little Rock, Arkansas. She is survived by her beloved son, Cooper Sahene of Little Rock. Jessica was a mother, daughter, sister, aunt and best friend. Her love for her family was immense, especially for her son, who was the light of her life. As the middle child, Jessica was the common ground that drew her family together. Her personality and smile lit up every room that she walked into. She was fiercely loyal to those she loved and a selfless giver. If she loved you and believed in you, she was your greatest cheerleader and would fight for you without considering the cost.
Jessica earned a Master of Arts in Professional and Technical Writing in 2012 from UA Little Rock. Her passion, determination, work ethic and stubbornness allowed her to accomplish this feat while also raising a toddler. She loved puns and fully supported the Oxford comma. Her creativity was boundless as evidenced by her ability to create and recreate anything presented to her. She loved words and was often found wearing shirts that succinctly and innovatively expressed her mood of the day.
Jessica was authentic and real in her interactions with others. She never met a stranger and made friends with ease. Her happy place was practicing yoga with her friends.
Just as Jessica was a gift in life to those who knew her, she became a gift in death to those to whom she donated her organs so that they might gain a new chance at life.
Jessica is preceded in death by her grandparents, Don and Doris Melius and Barney and Marguerite Sahene. In addition to her son, Cooper, Jessica is survived by her parents, John and Ruth Sahene; sister, Danielle (Reece) Hancock and brother, Brian Sahene all of Little Rock. She is also survived by her niece, Kate Hancock and her nephew, Owen Hancock both of Little Rock. Additionally, Jessica is survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Jessica's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church in Little Rock. A rosary will be offered for the repose of Jessica's soul at 10:00 a.m. immediately prior to Mass.
In honor of Jessica's life, memorials may be made in Jessica's name to Christ the King Catholic School, 4002 N. Rodney Parham Road, Little Rock, Arkansas, 72212 or Catholic High School for Boys, 6300 Father Tribou Street, Little Rock, Arkansas, 72205.
Eternal rest grant unto her and may the Perpetual Light shine up on her. May she rest in peace.

I had the privilege of working with Jessica on a major project this year, and she was just a delight. She was so kind and pleasant, and I could feel her smiling when I read an email or talked with her on the phone. She had the best sense of humor! She had a way of triggering a belly laugh by just one line in an email. Even working with her for just a short period of time, I knew that she cared deeply about others, that she worked extremely hard, and that she was a dedicated and loyal employee and friend. Jessica was a true gem, and we miss her terribly. She certainly left an impact on us and we are feel so grateful to have known her. Our bank family is praying for those who loved her, and especially for sweet Cooper.

She was the most kind soul and I feel blessed to have known her for so long. She was truly a light in this world! She will always shine bright in the sky and be missed terribly on this earth. My love and prayers to her family and all that loved her.
Jessica and I were cohorts in grad school with small children. She made it fun to wait in the hallway between classes. She was a bright, insightful, and full of light; she will be sorely missed.
Jessica was in my writing class at UALR. She also taught, and I met students who loved her. Anyone who knew her knew of her devotion to her son. I send much love to her family and her son.
When I read that Jessica "loved puns and fully supported the Oxford comma," I laughed a bit and teared up a lot. A kindred wordsmith and editor extraordinaire--as one of her UA Little Rock profs.,
I remember her as a joy to be around, a privilege to work with.
The picture above shows Jessica as she will ever be remembered.
We will miss you and will always remember you.
Jessica and I worked together the last year and shared me comical moments together. I spoke with her days before passing and she said I made her laugh so hard she almost spit out her drink! I will miss her witty banter that we had every week on conference calls. She was one of the hardest working people I know and spoke about her son just about every time I saw her. May she rest in peace. She will be missed.
My darling girl, we will miss you. Our hearts are broken for the light of your life, Cooper.
This is a wonderful tribute to Jessica. She had such a bright and beautiful light and is tremendously missed. I'll always remember when I first met her. She walked in with shining eyes and a killer smile and immediately became my friend. Many prayers for her family, especially her son Cooper. She spoke often of him and beamed with pride each time. I will always cherish the memories of her. Until we meet again.....
