Emma Athelene Parsons

of Benton, AR

December 30, 1931 - July 19, 2023

Emma Athelene Parsons of Benton went home to Jesus on July 19, 2023 after a short battle with Alzheimer's and cancer.

Athelene was born December 30, 1931 in Rose Creek, Arkansas, where she also grew up. She moved to California as a teenager, where she eventually married the love of her life, Norman Parsons. Together they raised their three children, Jean, Kathy and Ron. Athelene loved sewing and worked as a seamstress for many years while living in California. Her greatest love was spending time with her family, creating memories that will be treasured forever. Throughout her entire life, she held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those around her.

Athelene joins her husband, Norman Parsons, in Heaven; parents, Collins and Oma Cody and ten siblings. She is survived by her brother, Joy Cody; her children, Jean Wilson (Chuck), Kathy Morris (Dale) and Ron Parsons (Donna); nine grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

I didn't realize that Mom and Aunt Athelene's birthday's were only 15 days apart. I remember fondly when we lived close to you in California. That time we spent together when we were young gave us a special bond. Unfortunately, another thing Aunt Athelene and Mom shared is dementia. I am so happy that Aunt Athelene still remembered Dad when he came to visit. I can't say the same for Mom. Love you all.

I’m so sorry about Mrs. Parsons. She was such a good lady and Christian. My mom thought so much of her and loved her so much. You could always ask her and her husband and the Wilson’s to pray for you about something and you knew they didn’t forget you and always would.

Your mother was a godly woman who loved the Lord and faithfully served Him through all of the almost 60 years we knew her. She exemplified the Proverbs 31woman. It is for this reason that Her children rise up and call her blessed”. She blessed hundreds of lives with her wisdom and kindness. While she will be missed, we know it comforts your hearts (as it does ours) to know she is in the presence of the Savior she loved and reunited with her precious husband and family members her heart longed to see again. Our love and prayers are with you all.
