Robert "Bob" William McKelvey

of Little Rock, AR

September 30, 1943 - July 11, 2023

Robert (Bob) McKelvey passed away peacefully and surrounded by loved ones on July 11, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Ruth McKelvey and his brother, Richard McKelvey.

Those left to cherish his memory are daughter Karen McKelvey of Little Rock, AR, son Stephen McKelvey of Roswell, NM and daughter Susan Miller of Artesia, NM along with 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Bob was proud of his family and kept a prayerful vigil for each one of them.

He was born in Hartshorne, OK on September 30, 1943. His childhood in Portales, NM, instilled a lifelong passion for flying and Jesus Christ. As a deeply spiritual man, he was quick to share his love for Jesus with everyone and honored to help those who wanted to learn to fly. While Bob taught many people to fly, his most cherished student was his son Stephen. He was filled with pride when he was able to pass on his love for flight.

Some of Bobs most favorite memories were those that include his daughter Susan and cheering for the kids at their baseball games. Sitting in the crowd with pride and joy for his family, those moments meant everything to him.

Bob was a faithful member of several churches in his lifetime. The most recent was Crossroads New Baptist Church where he found love and support from each member of the congregation. It was in this ''little church'' that Bob was able to share his love of Jesus and build strong family relationships. With his purpose and faith in God, Bob would challenge those around him to be the best version of themselves. In his happy anticipation of heaven, he would recite Psalms 23, his favorite verse.

A memorial service will be held in Roswell NM at a date to be determined later. All friends and family will be welcome to celebrate the life of Bob.
The family asks that a donation be made to the Alzheimer's Association in lieu of flowers or other gifts.
