Sandralea Stivers Anderson

of Marianna, AR

November 24, 1949 - July 3, 2023

Sandy Stivers Anderson, 73, after devoting her life to her family and farm, died peacefully at her home Monday, July 3rd. Sandy was born on Thanksgiving Day, 1949 in Helena, Arkansas.

She leaves behind her son, Jed S. Anderson (Cindy); 3 grandchildren, Bailey, Stivers and Shaw and wonderful friend and care giver of many years, Donna Bailey. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Anderson and her parents, O.N. and Corinne Stivers all of Marianna.

Known by her grandchildren as "Babe", she was a wonderful cook, gentle caretaker and active member of the Lee County political circuit. She served as a member of the Lee County Republican Committee and was a Lee County Election Commissioner for many years. A 1967 graduate of T.A. Futrall, Sandy later received a degree in accounting from Arkansas State University, graduating with a 4.0 GPA. She passed the Certified Public Accountant exam on her first try.

Sandy's greatest priority was her family and the farm. She served the farm in all capacities from meticulous bookkeeping, tractor driving and too many turn row meals to count. Of all her roles, being Jed's "Mama" was her most treasured.

A burial service will be held Friday, July 7, 2023 at 10AM at Andrews-Curtis cemetery on the farm in Haynes.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that charitable donations, in remembrance of Sandy, be made to the Marianna Dog Pound or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

I have memories of Sandy riding the school bus but really got to know her when she was The county Republician committee vigorously standing for fair elections and the conservative viewpoint. She was a friend who was quick to build you up and demand of you that of which she thought you capable. I am very saddened at hearing of her passing and send my condolences to Jed and the family.

Sandy was my first friend when I moved back to Marianna at 17. Through the years we had many late night “discussions” around my kitchen table. She was very intelligent and very pretty with a good sense of humor. My mother said she had movie star looks. I have a lot of memories that I will cherish. Jed was her pride and joy. Jed and
Michele developed a life long friendship and remain friends today. You did a great job Sandy, with your son and you farm. Rest In Peace sweet lady.
