Harry Edward Race, Sr., 89, a resident of Dover passed away Monday, July 3, 2023 in Paris.
He was born April 10, 1934 in Edison, Colorado to the late Wallace Charles and Naomi Edessa (Chasteen) Race. Harry served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. After his military service, Harry spent his working years as the owner of a carpet installation business.
In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta (Scrivner) Race; four brothers, Charles, William, Howard and Jackie Race; two sisters, Eleanor Wheeler and Barbara Strand and two great grandchildren, Lindyn and Leora Grace McDaniel.
Survivors include five sons, David Race and wife, Denise of Dallas, Texas, Joe Race and wife, Lawonna of Dover, Eddie Race of Dover, Wilson Race of Russellville and Robert Race and wife, Patricia of Siloam Springs; two daughters, Janis Bigelow and husband, Ed of Dover and Milda McCutcheon and husband, Kenny of Hector; 15 grandchildren, Jonathan Race, Ean Bigelow, Morgan Race, Warren Race, Amber McDaniel, Shawna Crain, Derek Race, Brent Race, Austin Race, Madison Thurstenson, Noah Race, Carlee Gray, Bradley McCutcheon, Kolten McCutcheon and Tiffaney Van Horn; 16 great grandchildren, Adelyn Race, Scotland Race, Theodore Race, Jonah Race, Brittyn Race, Ruth Bigelow, Lincoln McDaniel, Liam McDaniel, Alayna Gray, Callen Gray, Brantley Gray, Ramsey Gray, Rhett McCutcheon, Emma McCutcheon, Kailey Van Horn and Jaxon Van Horn; a brother, Tommy Race and wife, Mary of Dardanelle and a sister, MaryAnn Watson and husband, Richard of Hot Springs.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 15, 2023 at St. Paul Cemetery near Dover. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home in Clarksville.

I absolutely loved when Mr. Race would come to Lake Dardanelle State Park. He always had a smile for us. The best was when his wife was still alive. We would talk and walk around the visitor's center. They will be greatly missed. My condolences to the family.
