Today we celebrate the life of Teresa Jean Story. She passed through heaven's gates on June 14, 2023 joining her mother, Verla Scott; her father, James Scott, Sr. and her husband, Darrell Story.
She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Jamie and Mike Pinegar, their sons, Matthew and Zachary; her brother and sister-in-law, James Scott, Jr. and Rhonda Scott, their daughters, Kaley and Caroline; her son and daughter-in-law, Adam and Christina Story, their children, Alexander, Tyler, Tristen and Kaylee and her daughter, Cecily Story.
Though not her family, she had many that she considered family, including Jason and Kara Barrington and their children Jayce, Jacob, Kloee and Kinlee, along with a host of other people.
Teresa was born February 22, 1957 in Little Rock, Arkansas. She grew up in Rose City along with her sister and brother attending Cumberland Presbyterian Church. While attending college at the University of Central Arkansas, she met her future husband Darrell and they were married before graduation.
Teresa was a stay-at-home mother after the birth of her son and daughter, but eventually received her Master's in education and returned to work as a teacher at Central Arkansas Christian High School where she taught History, English and Latin. She attended Somers Avenue Church of Christ along with her family for many years.
After the death of her husband, she retired to stay home with her daughter, her cherished dog, Sophie Claire and to spend time with her grandchildren. Teresa spent her life teaching and loving, whether family, friend or student.
Visitation will be Monday, June 19th at 10:00 a.m. with funeral services following at 11:00 a.m. at Roller-Owens Funeral Home in North Little Rock. Interment will follow at Edgewood Memorial Park.
Growing up with Teresa in our youth group and as the older sister of my best friend I always admired her humor and wit. She was so talented and always brought so much to every situation she was in. My heart breaks for all of you as Teresa's joy is not with you anymore in this world
Ms. Story was definitely one of my favorite teachers and ended up being a wonderful positive impact on me. She’s the reason I love history to this day! She attended many of our baseball games and became such a wonderful friend. Every time I went back to school I made sure to stop by and see her. I loved her and I’m so sorry for the families loss and will keep you all in my prayers.
Tommy, I didn't know your sister that well but I wanted you to know we have you and her family in our prayers.

Mrs. Story was one of my favorite teachers. I learned a lot in her English classes and try to teach my students with the same level of care and commitment. She will be missed.
We were saddened to hear the news of Teresa's passing. She was a great neighbor and her daughter Cecily to my mother Freda who recently passed. Our hearts and prayers go out to the Story family for the loss of a good mother, friend, and Christian lady.
