Shirley Ann Herrell, 78, passed away on June 11, 2023 in Marked Tree, Arkansas surrounded by family. She was born, one of six children, on September 23, 1944 to Banks and Earlene Whitehead in Eldridge, Alabama.
She was married to Carroll Gene Herrell in 1960 and spent the next 63 years as a homemaker and devoted wife to him. She had a soft heart for birds and homeless pets and was known for making a ''special'' pan of cornbread daily to feed them. She would give their food to the animals and leave the fridge empty. She also enjoyed growing flowers in her yard and being outside. She was a wonderful, kind person.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Banks and Earlene Whitehead; two brothers, Curtis Whitehead and Fred ''Bud'' Whitehead and one sister, Jeanette "Dill"Coats.
Survivors include her husband, Carroll Gene Herrell; two sisters, Onedia "Sebbie" Hartley and Dorothy "Tommy" Howard; a host of nieces and nephews that the family says are "too many to count".
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 at Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion, Arkansas on June 14, 2023. Interment will immediately follow.
