John Burlin May, 91, of Batesville passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2023.

He was born September 5, 1931 in Fox, Arkansas to Charlie Burlin May and Irma Kersey May.

John was a devout Christian man and attended Fairview Missionary Baptist Church in Timbo. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served his country during the Korean Conflict and was also stationed in Japan. He worked for General Motors at the Marion, Indiana Stamping Plant for 52 years. He loved to talk about his work and his work was his hobby. He loved his family and was dedicated to everything that was important to him. He also loved to tell stories.

Survivors include his daughter, Janet May of Batesville; brother, Dean (Martha) May of Mtn. View; brother-in-law, Charlie Ward of Jonesboro, Indiana; sister, Frances (Michael) Kernicky of Shawnee, Kansas; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 67 years, Mona Gammill May; three sisters, Louise Harper, Kathryn Ward and Cynthia Sue Huffaker.

Pallbearers will be Randall May, Brian Scott, Marty Berry and Steven Gammill.

Graveside services will begin at 11:00am Monday, June 12, 2023 at Pordue Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home with Pastor John Rodgers and Bro. Dean May officiating.

Oh my goodness! Loved working with John at the plant on WR! He was such a good teacher, as I was an apprentice back in the early 90’s training in gadgets! RIH John!
